Hey guys, does anybody find team games (even with randoms) more fun than 1v1’s lately? Like I used to mostly play 1’s but it just feels a bit stale now, pretty much the same tactics whereas team games seem more explosive (unless ofc one side gets rushed) and a bit more back and forth.
Breaking the clutch (a YouTube channel) talked about possibly adding a ffa mode in, 4 players battle it out and I think that’d be awesome. Used to play that a lot back in command and conquer days, and it truly did spice things up.
Right now to me 1’s seem to be, spam marines and go. Although I’ve been having fun with kisano lately. I do feel elite rangers were a bit over nerfed honestly.
I have much more fun in team games now. Like you said, 1s can get redundant.
Players find the strategy that yields the best/quickest results, and then repeat. And, currently, there isn’t enough versatility to do much against the top strats (marine partydown).
At least in teams you can play as different leaders and try new things.
And have…fun?

Definitely. The only leader in refuse to use now is anders. She is honestly absolutely useless. Apart from that I can have fun with the rest and yes, in 1’s it really is find best strategy to win and then do that for the season.

Don’t sleep on Anders in team games though.
Beyond getting those quick upgrades, her kodiaks with the sent bonuses are so annoying to deal with. She can pretty much put a stop to most infantry pushes.
I think in 1s now is going to be an infantry battle right out the gate and that’s not a bad thing in my eyes it should be a fight to get to tech 2 and start building better units
I play teams as a solo right now and have been getting beat down by pre-made teams. It is a rush when you fight off a coordinated assault, but it really sucks when you can’t depend on your team of randoms if it gets to that point. Overall though, I think team games are where it’s all been happening.
In my opinion I play 2v2s and team war with one of my friends but I don’t play because I feel 1s is stale, if anything I’m one of those people you listed that rushes(no shame I understand you opinion) but in my opinion I think that 2v2s feels like there’s less on the line. If you screw up and forget to collect the starting supplies or your marines just for whatever reason don’t move(which does happen and it sets you back a lot) then there is HUGE consequences in 1v1s because now if your enemy did get the starting crates he now has more supplies and a bigger army leaving you defenseless, on the other hand in 2v2s while still having consequences you have a teammate to help defend you or send supplies or etc. The reasons I don’t do 3s is one I don’t have two other friends who are good at the game and two is that in 3s it feels like you don’t have control, like if you’re going anti vehicle and you’re teammate already has anti vehicle than that means that your army is pointless because your friend has already started making anti vehicle so now you have to go anti air which you aren’t good at and don’t like going, where as in 2v2s there’s a lot better communication as you don’t have to communicate to two people and instead only focus on one. Another point is in 2v2s if you make a mistake there’s consequences but it’s much easier to handle than a mistake in 1s, but if you make a mistake in 3v3s it’s like noting ever happened, instead you just sit there and regroup, no consequences. With 2v2s it’s much more of a challenge to make up for that mistake making it more fun in my opinion. I say all this as one who wants the game to be over in the first 10 minutes but of course sometimes it fails and we go late game and I never mind. In 1s there is no chance for late game, either one of you wins or loses in the first 10-15 minutes, with 2v2s it’s fun to try my hand at late game(even though I’m trash at it). So in conclusion I think that 2v2s are a good playlist for a challenge while still having fun, 3v3s in my opinion are to big and need to be toned down a bit(don’t know how ,I’ll leave that up to 343 for them to decide) and 1v1s, though challenging and fun sometimes isn’t as fun in my opinion as 2v2s.

Hmmm I guess I wasn’t using her properly then. Do you bother using sentinals themselves, or do you use kodiaks with different units?

The protector sentinel is a decent unit in itself for AA and some AV, but I wouldn’t invest in it too much because it is like paper and doesn’t have the attack power to classify as a glass cannon. I typically stear away from it and only use ander for her defense right now (Kodiaks and siege turrets with sentinel spawn). I think that’s here strength right now but in the right hands protectors cold work. Ive just never seen it used effectively against me. Fungus and I actually have talked a bunch about this.
