I don’t hate it, but I wouldn’t say that a really like it. It’s a perfect description of mediocre, it’s got good action, mostly fun characters, and I’m enjoying seeing the visualisation of extended Halo on screen.
As a fan of Dredd, I know they could have respected the helmet and still made Chief a compelling character loyal to existing media, and I am still waiting for that dream Halo movie that’s been in my head for years.

But I respect the fact that they played it safe in what’s a cursed genre of video game adaptations which are consistently bad. I can easily say that Paramounts Halo is not explicitly bad either and I’ll be back for more in season 2… although that’s mostly because I’m a mega fanboy.

Before the show was released, I wasn’t overly optimistic considering they were changing the story a bit from not only the games but the books too.

I routinely ask myself why do a lot of these writers and producers ignore the source material when it comes to video game/book adaptations? Successful adaptations come too far between each other but you know which ones succeed? The ones who FOLLOW the source material. Just a couple examples to name off the top of my head are the Harry Potter movies and Gone Girl which both followed their source material very closely and created some of the best adaptations we’ve ever seen in cinema.

I understand originality in Hollywood and other industries but I believe that should be saved for potential spin offs IMO. All in all, the show can be cheesy sometimes from the writing to the animation, HOWEVER, being such a Halo fan I am, it is nice to see more of it on the big screen.

Idk maybe for a di$erent show but they take it far from the games and books combined. A lot of the stuff is turned upside down like a human with the covenant? If it were true to the lore makee would be de apitated right there, reclaimer or not. Kais rea tion to removing her pellet is cringe not gonna lie. And cheif has his helmet off 95% of the time. It just nitpicks making thing weird. Also forgot to mention cheif hates halsey and cortana? I just dont know.

I love it. N im a day 1 halo fan. None of the helmet off or emotional chief stuff turns me off. I understand a show is different from a game or a movie.

I’m enjoying it. Six episodes so far and it’s been an enjoyable watch with some decent funny moments and cool action sequences. I like that I don’t know exactly where it is going as it deviates form the established lore I know inside out already.

I’m a big Sorren fan. Enjoying the side story.

It is, LAUGHABLY, poorly written.

Very disappointing after waiting so very long for live action Halo.

I’m going to lean no. 5 and 6 have generally gotten better though. A part of this is likely due to the little or no Kwon, who’s generally related to most the big writing failures.

I actually don’t mind Makee, though I think she should have been introduced in ep 5. Her role before was not much better than Kwon, and knowing where her loyalties lie removes a lot of mystery and tension. That and she probably used up a bunch of budget doing…not much really in the prior eps.

The show feels like its trying to cram a really warped version of the fall of reach into the span of a week, while cramming in more plot points only to further muddy things. Characters seem to jsut show up because they have to show up and not because it helps the narrative.

I’m not expecting 100% accuracy, but at the same time, the writing feels very poor and very deaf as to what the appeal of halo is.
