Since certain weapons in Halo 4, atleast in a new-ish build, have reticle bloom how do you think its going to work? Personally i hope its only on the DMR and Magnum and works like the TU 85% bloom. I think bloom on certain weapons is fine but what do you guys think?
> Magnum also had bloom and was very similar to Halo Reach. It could be shot very fast, but the bloom would make it very inaccurate.
Doesn’t sound like 85% Bloom to me. Sounds more like H3’s M6G is going to be replaced with Reach’s M6G, a slight rof improvement but ultimately a loss of decent accuracy (H3’s magnum didn’t have that much spread nor was it inhibited by Bloom) and range (H3’s magnum could get some pretty good long range shots).
I’d rather have superb accuracy and range + scope with a slow rof than Reach’s pistol.

Sounds like Halo 4’s DMR.
On topic: They’ll probably work somewhat to it. However, the MLG guy, don’t remember his name, preferred the DMR over the BR in that build since the bloom didn’t seem to hinder his shots most of the time. It could mean that the bloom is even less painful than Reach’s bloom.
All of it is still subject to change. :s
343 says there pushing for more fast based action in the mp so i hope that they put in 85% bloom in
the vanilla reach bloom really slowed down kill times
Faster and larger reticle bloom, and probably faster recovery.
Bloom is a terrible idea, there is no “good setting” for it IMO.
The key to bloom is making sure that auto-aim/aim-magnetism and hitbox size is done correctly. Because that is what caused the bloom system in vanilla Reach to be so poorly done, too much auto-aim/aim-magnetism and hitboxes were way too big.
The whole point of bloom is to add an additional skill gap to standard point-and-shoot combat because it adds a timing factor to being accurate. Reach’s bloom system failed because hitboxes were so big, that it was generally advantageous to not pace your shots. Reach became a gambling match of trying to maximize your RoF to fully exploit hitboxes and auto-aim.
When bloom is done correctly, it will greatly favor skilled players and will punish players who cant time their shots correctly.
