Just a Couple Thoughts

Unfortunately I did not get into the PC flight but I did get into the flight for my Series X. All my friends got into the PC flight and we were able to play together. I think for me, and what I gathered from the people I played with, there are 2 big things that could be improved upon. Obviously there needs to be a lot of optimization and I do realize that this is not even a Beta build we played this past weekend, so hopefully some tuning since this build has fixed some of this.

1.) The feel of the controls - I was on controller on console, the game was beautiful, but something just felt off. I heard some streamers talk about aim assist not being there for controller. IDK if that was/is true or not but something just felt off. I wish I could 100% put my finger on it but I can’t. I just know that something wasn’t as smooth as H5. My PC counterparts said the same, even after fixing the FPS issue with the Min/Max fix. H5 had a perfect feel to me and still does, Infinite just feels a tiny bit off. I get that things must change but smoothness shouldn’t be one of them. Again, it could have just been the build we got. I am hoping though that the release version or the beta version will resolve this.

2.) The Bob and Weave - Please, please, please reconsider the screen bob and weave when running. It is jarring. I suppose I could get used to it but I feel it takes me out of the game, immersion wise, more than it adds to the immersion experience. I was hoping that screen shake was the setting that toggled it on or off but changing that did not affect anything. At the very least, allow players to toggle it like the speed lines setting.

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed Halo being back even if it was mostly against bots. I love the new weapons! I will get hate for this but I loved the new shotgun and the VK is a beast. Changing the power ups to consumable will add a whole new strategy to competitive play. I think there were a lot of positives out of the build we got to play and it really is getting me excited for November??? Could this be the best Halo ever? “No, I think we’re just getting started.”

You can turn off all the running effects. Not sure why people are making a point of posting about. It a simple matter of turning it off in the Settings (Video/UI menus)

The Bulldog and VK are DOPE!!! It’s honestly about how you use them. The Bulldog is obviously CQC, and VK is PERFECT against enemies with no shield. I picked up when I could!

Between the low aim assist, and weird look acceleration it definitely felt off, don’t know how that gets messed up. It needs fixed if crossplay is gonna be a thing.
It feels good tho, I’m very optimistic about infinite.

I wish it were as simple as turning it off. I toggled every setting on console version and it was still there. I mean it is possible I missed it I suppose. Anyways, glad you enjoyed it too. The hype is back. Reminds me of H3 launch.

I always turn my look acceleration to the lowest setting. Can you explain this?

Idk how to really describe it, the default felt a little too high, but no matter how much I fanagled with it it never felt quite the same as 5-MCC halo

It’s because of your dead zones most likely.

Dead zones are there for the game to allow for the minor variations of stick drift that is real and apparent across many controllers .it’s an in game aiming issue that needs to be addressed

I’m promising you they made the difference. I don’t know crap about dead zones however it fixed the issue for me.

So if I have some slight stick drift what should I do ? This scenario is a bulk of xbox controller users at some time time during the life of there controllers .dead zone adjustment let’s you play around the issue if it’s minor .

It’s not strick drift. I have a new Series 2 controller. All I know is it made aiming far more like Halo after messing around with the settings for it.

You said yourself you know nothing about dead zones or how they work .how but we leave it there .

I know what aiming feels like and it fixed the issue. Plenty of other people have stated the same thing so I’m not in the minority about this.

What your failing to grasp is the fact of why dead zones exist in the first place . Yes it may have fixed it for you in the tech test but it’s something that will need addressing longer term from 343 .

I’m not disagreeing with this at all. I’m just stating my experience along with many others.

The test is done now mate .your hot fix is as well because I’m 100% confident it won’t be the same next test
