Just a Couple of Multiplayer Ideas...

As a start, I really do apologise if these ideas have already been posted. But here we go!

Ranking

  1. Create a hybrid of the Ranked and Experience based progression systems.

Example - A player could be given a rank in the form of a pronoun (Foreunner, Hero, Colonel, Private etc) as well as a numerical rank.

The Noun would represent their experience, as in the amount of games they have won, thus gaining EXP, whereas the numeral would represent their skill level.

For instance, if I play 10 games, and only win 5, I might not advance a skill level (1-50), but my experience from merely playing the match would.

End result? You could be Level 1 Private, a Level 15 Reclaimer, or perhaps a Level 50 Forerunner!

Playlists

  1. Limit the playlist variations.

Now, with the new ‘Drop In’ system, this might not have any standing, but Halo Reach became stupid with the amount of individual playlists you could play. For instance, there are currently 400 people playing Squad Slayer. Remove the variations, or at least incorporate them into a ‘General’ category.

Apologies if these have been mentioned, but I hope you agree!

I like the rank idea.

I agree that 343 should utlize a skill based ranking system alongside some sort of progression. That way, the hardcore can have something to look forward to and extend the life of the game (while increasing their skills via rank number or something) while the casuals who aren’t very good can still unlock armor, weapons, and expand their loadouts with Spartan Points.

A progression system based on playing time alone instead of skill is instant fail. It’s a poor substitute for a skill based one at best and don’t feed me this “you haz Arena” crap. We already know how THAT ended, no repeats please.

Same with the playlists. It’s one thing to have variety but as evident in Reach, there is a TON of fat that should not be there. We don’t need a billion different team slayers to provide variety. Just SWAT, Snipes, vanilla TS FFA, Objective, BTB etc.

Quality > Quantity if you will.
