Jumping on the bandwagon, here...

First off, lemme start by saying I’m pretty alright with how Halo 4 turned out. I’m big into the lore and story of the Halo universe as a whole, read all the books and absorbed all the general information I could leading up to Halo 4. I seriously obsess, lol. Got Silentium the day it came out and read it all the way through… I dunno. Really appealing sci-fi universe to me, has been since CE first came out and roped me in. So yay Prometheans and stuff.

But I’m kinda… shocked… by that GDC stuff and a lot of things being said. I usually avoid the arguments over matchmaking and nerv vs buff this and that type crap. I admit to not caring much about my K/D ratio and charging blindly around as a hazard to my team from time to time… but I’m that kinda odd gamer who’s hardcore, but casual. Hardcore about certain series, but never particularly competitive online as much as just having fun. And even /I/ am shocked by some of there words.

I float around on these forums, logged in or not, and just kinda watch what people are talking about, reading through threads. Usually, I’m just looking around for neat lore stuff, but with all the complaints, I’ve paid attention to them. I still firmly believe most complaints about damage and loadouts and things can be fixed by the creation of a series of playlists… and I admit to being somewhat perplexed as to why 343 hasn’t just made said playlists and been done with it…

…but they’ve really mostly shunned feedback from on here. For the competitive players and complainers, as much as a lot of it is mindless rage-rants, the majority of the opinions and complaints are shared across the board by a wide variety of competitive players. Not all of them have been -Yoink- heads about it, either. Some have been very simple and understandable in their hopes and dreams and demands, etc. Easy fixes that would seriously revive a lot of the game’s apparently-not-important-but-still-important population.

So 343… though I know you probably won’t read this random late-night rant from somebody who’s opinion is a drop of water in a vast ocean of much louder complaints, even I, as the casual but eternal Halo fan I am, must say that you’ve kinda messed up, here. You might as well of forced a text-image of a hand with the middle finger up on the load screen you usually use for describing updates in the in-game menu directed just at the people on your forums who have tried in complete and utter vain to have civil discussions about what is not only a beloved passtime and franchise to the fans, both competitive and casual, but also ignored part of the fan base of what is, in essence, your livelihood.

Your sole existence is Halo.
There is no fall-back option if this franchise burns to the ground, 343 goes with it.

I know it’s hard, but please try to listen to both sides a bit more. The single-player stuff, the majority thinks you got alright. Beef with the Knights design here and there, other spats of complaints with the story but that’s a vast minority. We liked the campaign in general, and Spartan Ops in passing. You’ve made a wonderful series of playlists that are fun for some of us who are looking for a fun time online, maps are pretty ok for us casual or casual-hardcore fan players…

But please, for the sake of a franchise I seriously think could rival Star Wars in time (blasphemy among sci-fi fans and my own friends, I know), interact and listen to the community a bit more. Respond to the complaints on here. Even be jerks about it if you have to, some of the less mature complainers certainly deserve it, but give them SOMETHING.

That’s all. Congrats if you’ve made it through this babbling rant, lol. Flame on.

So many spelling errors and grammar errors I cannot be bothered to fix with that original post… apologies, folks.

Well said.

As much as i am a dissapointed hyper competitive player I will be here hoping…

Until the end.

I like to tell myself their silence is them admitting guilt and learning the lessons, lol. They have NOTHING except Halo to work on, so hopefully they’re actually already applying people’s opinions to 5.

My random hope: That the next game will be 2-disk with the second disc full and devoted specifically to Online play. I don’t mean like 4 with the Spartan Ops and some of the multiplayer on it, I mean like a full disc with all the software on it needed for them to have a more complete package they can utilize to give both casual and competitive gamers their preferred playlists.

Since Reach, people have been hearing that Halo games will be easily adjusted on the fly with playlist updates that will reflect the different sides of the community’s wants. They were supposed to be building these games specifically to do that, yet they keep failing. Starting to feel for the complainers and competitive crowd, lol.

I just hope 5 will be alot better multiplayer wise.

I’m glad you can at least say this in a very mature way. I’m pretty sure, correct me if I’m wrong, that this is the mindset that they had when developing Halo 4. However, that doesn’t mean they may still think it. I really do believe that 343i can listen and will give us what we want eventually even if most people are not willing to give them another chance.
