Well, for starters, whether Halo 4 have armor abilities or not sprint should stop being one and just a normal movement option, map it to the left stick, seem to be the one used for sprint in most console games that have it.
I think sprint, and only sprint, would be fine. Anybody who disagrees should just go play Halo 3 the rest of their lives, because it didn’t ruin Reach and Halo is going to evolve, whether you like it or not.
I agree that Sprint should return in Halo 4. It allows for variable movement when you are on the ground.
Currently jumping and crouching are the only ways to modify Chief’s vertical movement. What are some ways that Chief could be given more freedom to move vertically?
Jetpack, Gravity Lift (Halo 3 Equipment), Man Cannons; these allow Chief to get up higher. Some you spawn with (Jetpack), some you pick up on the map (Gravity Lift), others are part of the map (Man Cannons); What vertical mobility solutions should Halo 4 employ?

the thruster pack seen in the announcement trailer. This will probably be one of the chief’s new movement abilities.

NO STRAFE ACCELERATION.
what i mean by this is… when you strafe, you should always strafe at FULL SPEED, and NEVER BUILT UP SPEED by accelerating.
also, faster movement and jump speed.
in terms of AA’s, i’d like to see the return of sprint (tweaked massively), evade (tweaked a little bit), a ‘climb’ AA possibly, and a ‘slide’ AA possibly (where you can shoot with 100% accuracy while you slide).
just keep the playlists with the AA’s separate please! dont force players to play with AA’s like reach basically does 99% of the time.
That would be a cool idea. Maybe you could use this ability to hang from a ledge with one hand and shoot with the other hand (if you had a one handed weapon like a pistol).
When above and near the edge of a ledge there could be a button prompt that causes your player to drop down and grab hold of it. You would have a limited turning radius and could not move unless you let go of the ledge. You could also jump up to a ledge from below and press the button prompt while in the air. Conversely you down drop off a higher ledge and grab another ledge on the way down by pressing the button prompt mid air.
Brink’s parkour system is the best movement system I’ve ever seen in an FPS. 343 could try to implement something like it, though if they don’t find a way to put an original spin on it, it could leave players with that dreaded “too similar to other games that did it first” taste in their mouths.
For the unaware: you could hold down a button, the “SMART” button (Smart Movement Across Random Terrain), to make it easier to slide under obstacles, jump up and mantle onto or over walls, leap and hop over guardrails, what have you. It was implemented using a pathing mesh (much like many AI systems use) to denote where the player could perform parkour movements. It was an absolutely genius system, actually.

Now there’s a good idea. What would this thruster pack be used for?
