By jump pack I mean like what brutes used in H3 when they basically just jumped really high and then landed.
I think that a jump pack would be a much better way to go if you are going to have a jet pack style thing in H4.
It would prevent people flying to the hight barrier all the time to kill you or just hovering around with rockets.
Try not to misunderstand, I don’t want anything like a jet pack in H4 but its not exactly MY choice is it(?)
but if I had to choose between the two I would much rather have a jump pack.
Same kind of thing just much better.
(EDIT)
There would also be a 2/3 second delay before lifting off to prevent it being used as a cheap escape tool.
It jumps only to where you are looking. If you can’t see a ledge or surface then you would have to predict where to launch to make the jump.
Looking to low could result in a normal non AA jump. It would mainly be based of the angle of the jump to get to high places, adding a certain skill to being able to use it.
If you have contact with a surface such as a ceiling you will die due to the speed of travel when using it depending on how far you are into the jump itself.
Start would kill you, Middle would criticality damage you or depending on amount of health could kill you and near the end or near landing would half/drop your shields if no shields would kill or criticality damage.
YES. I hate the idea of streaming propulsion; it just breaks so many maps. A jump pack would work a lot better. If it boosted you a little higher than a grenade-jump, maps couldn’t be any more broken by a jump pack than a grenade jump. It would be so much better.

> A less powered version of how the Bullfrogs’ jet packs worked in reach.
Pretty much what I was think of, yes.
Just a single burst of energy that depletes the AA power just before it sends you through the air and then you land.
Not continuous like the SIII Jet pack.
If it functions like a jump pack, I feel VERY confident in the armor abilities for Halo 4. An ability one can choose willfully that can break a map is bad. This would fix it.

Essentially fixing Reaches problem of maps like Cage, Count down and others being destroyed by the jet pack and then grenade spam combo.
Well first of all before you guys just starts inst-voting, just think about it this way. You are in a close quarters gun fight with a guy and he suddenly just get’s 10-20 feet in the air. It confuses you, but he get’s enough shots on you to kill you.

There would be a 3 second delay, and a way to see their about to jump like exhaust coming out of their backs.

But you would still be staggered because he/she just used it out of nowhere. By the time you relize where he/she is, he/she would have already put 2-3 shots into you.

however IF its like a jump pack and fully depletes the whole amount, then it will take some careful planning on when to jump cause you might just get stuck hitting the ceiling and not moving at all just a big floating target with fire coming out of your back plus it would give you the advantage cause he is expecting to fly all the way up and will have to compensate for instantly stopping.

People do this to me on reach with a jet pack.
Also my idea is that you jump where you are aiming so they would jump 1 or 2 feet due to looking at you and probably die.

And similar to this I was thinking that maybe they have to hold the button which set the character into a lowered position and then they would have to kick up to launch.
I cannot see anybody escaping using that method. With that delay.

OR hitting the ceiling and dying. haha! that would be embarrassing.
