Taken from the weekly update, “Very soon, we’ll be taking a closer look at Operation: SPEARBREAKER, a two-mission story-based addition which follows a squad of ODSTs attempting to thwart a dangerous Banished plot following the events of the main campaign (don’t tell anyone I told you).”
Assuming that this elite group of ODSTs are playable, they’ll need to be significantly harder to kill than the normal helljumpers that Cutter drops in. So could we have an ODST squad for a hero unit? And furthermore the final UNSC leader itself? I like the idea, but I struggle to think of what leader powers they will have. Perhaps the ability to straight build ODSTs out of the main base instead of Marines? Would that be too broken? Sounds like they would wreck everything early game with those mines. But what other leader powers and unique units could an ODST leader have to differentiate them from Cutter?

Idk about that. In lore, huragok are completely passive. They don’t fight or command armies. They only repair and tinker. Its really tragic what the brutes in H3 ODST did to them, forcing them to self destruct to stop them from falling into UNSC hands. This is because they literally will work for anyone. They find meaning and joy in fixing and bettering things. Its what the Forerunners created them for. Engineers helped to build the UNSC Infinity, and I’m sure if the Spirit of Fire had access to the UNSC’s resources, they would have their own huragok too.

He’s a silent killer and actions speak louder than words lol
Dude Buck would be awesome! Kinda weird since hes in halo 5 but then again we have johnson…
Have ODST be a upgrade to marines and have them function kinda like brutes in hw1 as a heavy/elite infantry role. Thats something i find this game lacks. We have grunts and marines and neither are viable late game. Get ODSTs to help out your wolves later in. Could actually be decent so we have infantry later as well.
Buck could also have his leader unit be his squad from halo 3 ODST. Just some thoughts

Well… Not sure that they’re actually the nice buddies we thought, if I recall one of the Loot Crates implied the Huragoks wanted the Covenant to shoot themselves with the rings. We also have Sinks, who seemingly has little problem with going slaughterhouse, I know they stated that such behaviour was due the lack of contact with other of his kind (and therefore repairs) but there was also an Engineer that stroke down a marine to save a Grunt on one of the first books (I think was Contact on Harvest).

This actually gives me a great idea! Jump Pack ODSTs! Like the Bull Frogs from Halo Reach! Can work like the Jump Pack brutes and could bring back the shotgun like HW1 ODST’s wielded.

He didn’t just drop them, you could actually make them in a barracks. Also it would be incredibly un-creative to just make another leader that can drop in ODST, if they wanted an ODST specialist they should’ve kept the ability to build ODST in Cutter’s barracks.
So far I have been unhappy with all the leaders that have been released, I literally paid for sub-par backstories, leaders, and unit diversity. An example would be Kinsano; the ONLY flame themed unit was a warthog (besides the leader), and two flame themed leader powers. Hunter Captain had Skitters and Goliaths (343i really stepped up their game there.). Surprisingly they actually themed leader powers for Hunter captain, just a tad bit more. Johnson was just a poor leader release, as most already know. His unit diversity is okay, but the leader powers are bad. There could have been much more out of these leaders, but they didn’t want to put in the work.

I think it would be a good idea… the banished are savages so i wouldn’t be surprised if an engineer gave the covenant and unsc the finger and geared up for war… imagine a weaponized engineer (not an engineer with a skitterer cuz thats lame)
Why not Thel Vadam? He is allied to the Unsc and he is a great commander in the story arch as well. If they brought back an already dead man (Johnson) they could probably combine some Sangheili and unsc forces in the mix (basically salt and pepper it) to make him perform well. JUST a suggestion is all.
My dream is they could create a ODST hero unit and change the Cutter hero unit for this one. Seeing Jerome in Cutters orders doesn’t make sense for me anymore.
While this would be awesome, wasn’t Serena confirmed as the July leader? If that’s the case, we won’t be seeing an ODST this month. Maybe when round 2 of leaders drops with ATN.

Not to mention, they kinda screwed with what he can drop, so it’s already not the same as HW1.
