July 2020 Halo Infinite Demo Xbox One version?

I am struggling to wrap my head around the 8 minute demo that was presented during the Xbox 2020 Games Showcase. My expectations for this reveal was extremely high however, I was left underwhelmed by the visual representation of the game thus far. I couldn’t help think, that maybe this was not the game shown that was meant for the Xbox Series X but rather a representation of the version of current gen hardware, and here is why.

  1. Screenshots on 343 Industries allows a user to switch between Xbox One and Windows 10 but no Xbox Series X
  2. The new images taking from the demo are conflicting with what was shown last year.
  3. The pop-ins during the demo reveal does not make sense for a game in development for 5 years meant to be played on the Xbox Series X.
  4. Dull/flat visuals, lack of textures, poor lighting and shadows, character models, and environment just do not shout new gen
  5. In the Slipspace engine demo shown last year clearly showed off the power meant for Xbox Series X, but the demo did not have that…like at all.

Someone please tell me that this is not what we are getting for a Next Gen game. This was an embarrassing moment for Xbox and the whole community of gamers. This was the opportunity to show off the new tech and what a 12 teraflop machine can do for the Halo franchise.

Where is the raytracing, and when will the velocity architecture come into play?

:frowning:

Yea this was disappointing mostly due to what they showed us last year is not what we saw. I’ve played Halo since CE and before Xbox Live was out. This is the first time I’m not buying this game unless alot changes. Nor the new xbox. The power it has and what we saw on screen doesn’t add up. They better be glad this game is on game pass is all I got to say.

Seems like you are late to the party, but yeah thats how it be right now. The one minute gameplay trailer shows improved graphics though. But hopefully they will show some actual gameplay soon again with the improvements.

It’s embarrassing even for a current-gen game considering that Gears 5 and other games have far better graphics than what was shown to us in the demo. However, I think the community has a reason to be positive given the media attention that the demo has received, putting pressure on MS and 343i to put out a game that will push the XSX to its limits. We have a few months left, so only time will tell if things improve, but until then I’d say cautious optimism is the way forward.

I believe it was running on a PC that had specs “similar to” the Series X.

That’s the disturbing part

Oh absolutely. I made a similar post on another thread. This is a flagship game, meant for a flagship next gen console that comes out in four to five months. If this game isn’t demoed on said console, what is the state of the console?
That is very concerning to me.

Yes, they did confirm that is was running on PC, but it looks as though the graphics were not enabled to what it can actually perform. It looked like it was running on the lowest possible setting, leaving me wonder if this is what the Xbox One version will look like.
