I have a hard time incorporating Jul into Halo 4.
I really don’t know if this will be a good turn for the Halo series.
What do you guys think?

What’s wrong with it?
Nothing different than having Truth commanding everything you see.
Simple answer is, we won’t know until the game comes out. It’s still up in the air how often he’ll be seen in the campaign, if at all. If you read Glasslands and The Thursday War, it makes sense that he’d be included.
But more importantly, why do you think he wouldn’t be a good addition?

Truth was built into the series though.
Jul was taken from a book. It seems that Halo 4 is almost based on Halo: Glasslands.
Read Glasslands and Thursday War, it’ll make sense.

How else would you have a leader for the Storm Covenant though? Glasslands came before Halo 4’s story was even finished.

Jul is taken from a book, but he was created for Halo 4 and the Reclaimer Trilogy.

Actually, it’s the opposite. Every book that’s been released since 343i took over has been in preparation of Halo 4. He was established as a villain for the game, and then his backstory was detailed in the books. Not the other way around.
> Read Glasslands and Thursday War, it’ll make sense.
I have read Glasslands and I feel that Halo 4 is feeding off of that book.

Did 343i not say several times that Glasslands, The Thursday War, and the Forerunner Trilogy would have direct connections to Halp 4?
And I still don’t see the problem. Its a new character. Where is the issue? Lasky is in a book and media, Del Rio is in a book, the IVs are from a book, Chief’s background is from the novels.
It makes a lot more sense after you read The Thursday War. He actually has a really compelling and believable backstory.
I’m sorry if you don’t agree, but I feel that they are not really being that creative with developing the enemies. I am fine with Lasky, he was invented by 343i or the people who made Forward Unto Dawn. However, I just feel that they should have done more of the creating themselves than letting other people do it.
I’m not saying that Halo 4 would not be a good game, in fact, I think that it will be the best Halo game, I just wish that they did the creating themselves.

Thanks, I haven’t had the chance to read it yet.
However it is not Jul I have a problem with (maybe I confused some of you with that?) but the idea that 343i isn’t really creating the enemies themselves. They are just designing pre-made characters. They don’t even have to add personality to them because the books have already done that.

You do realize that the authors of the books don’t exactly create the stories within them, right? They’re commissioned to do them by 343i. They’re given a description of what they want to happen, what needs to happen, and who the book needs to be about. The authors fill in the gaps, but ultimately it’s still 343i’s story.
That’s a fact of how these things work. The authors don’t just make all this stuff up.

This seems weird though. Do you think that 343i would boss around Karen Traviss and tell her to make a bendable character that can accomplish and act a certain way that can do anything the 343i wants him to? This really doesn’t seem likely to me.
Is the “J” in his name silent?

Still, why would writers WANT to write something that someone else tells them to do. They became writers to let their creativity flow and to make their OWN stories.

Ever thought that 343i invented that elite guy first and told Karen Travis what to Wright?
You can’t say it’s not original. And the Prometheans are very interesting enemies.

Ya know, that is a very good question.
