Jul Mdama was an awesome character that 343 made back in halo 4, I think in halo 5 it would be amazing if 343 industries let us to fight this elite in a boss fight in halo 5´s campaing instead of just dying in a cinematic, by doing this Jul Mdama would´nt just be a wasted opportunity.

Jul mdama should have been killed by the arbiter not in a way just to make one of the protagonist look good
He deserved a better death. Built him up in books and game and comics… for a cinematic death.
Alternatively, instead of a fight that ends in his death they could have had him be captured and then furthered his story by having him accept that revenge isn’t always the answer and that this constant cycle of needing retribution that has been guiding him all these years has turned him astray. And hey, maybe reconnect with his son so it can tie into the idea of “family” 343 has been trying to cultivate and help his own son not fall to the same cycle of revenge.
That’d require talent, of course.
Yes he should have been a boss fight but to late now
If I possessed some freakish powers of sorts, I’d probably use them to redo 'Mdama’s sequence into an actual boss fight (just like fighting him on Sanctum) rather than a cutscene where he crumbles like a rock. Unfortunately, I do not possess such abilities at all.

Totally agree. It put a bad taste in my mouth for the game when I started it. I was just like wtf after Spartan Ops and all the other media SMH. I still think about what a dumb move that was.
Yup it was poorly executed in Halo 5…no pun intended. It would of been refreshing for sure to fight him instead of the Warden for the sixth time

Woah way different direction and it’s amazing. I like this idea by far.

I don’t think he was redeemable, arbiter wasn’t really either, but he never really thought of humans like mdama did

He doesn’t have to like humans, but I think Jul would have to see that endless violence isn’t the answer and prolonging the Blooding Years will only doom his species, especially his son who has also sworn vegenegence in Jul’s name.

With your proposal would Jul have been an ally or more a neutral party?

If I had a say, he’d probably be neutral and slink off somewhere. Perhaps a wanderer on Sanghelios or some colony.
Imagine this:
It’s the first mission in the game and we already have a boss fight. That would have been awesome.
Actually I was expecting to fight him somewhere in the campaign, but my hype was murdered at the end of the first mission.
Glad to see him in Warzone though.

I felt the same way except I learned it from a mate and I seriously thought he was joking. No way we don’t fight Jul.
Given how terrible boss fights are in the past, I’m fine with the cutscene death. There’s only so much you can do with an Elite without making it absurd.
At the least he should have lived to the Sanghelios arc and died against the Arbiter in a dope cutscene or in-game fight. Not killed off by Locke in the first cutscene so people would like Locke more.
The Warzone one is the best your going to get now.
