Judging from the Terminals in Halo: CEA...

Halo 4 looks like it will be pretty dark. Just looking at the whole presentation of the videos, it’s almost got a bit of a Dead Space vibe to it. Not really, but just a bit.

I think what’s really happening here is that 343 is going into topics that the normal Halo trilogy seemed to keep away from. Is this a good thing? It certainly sounds like it. It could be a bit too much at once though. What do you all think of what we’ve seen in the Anniversary Terminals?

No one has an opinion on this at all? C’mon now.

The terminals from CEA got me back into wanting more from the games lore. I semi-did the Halo 3 terminals but the CEA ones are so much better.

343i have confirmed a more mature story and game for Halo 4, this makes me happy in my pants for sure.

As long as there isn’t so much back story from Cryptum, Primordiium and Silentium then I’m happy for the game to include much more from the books, comics, terminals etc.

I just don’t want to have to track geas, bound/un-bound Didact, two Guilty Sparks, fragments of Cortana etc. You get the idea I like the games to be complex but I don’t want the story to be complex or have so many unresolved branches you just get lost.

I’d like a darker and more mature story/action but I’d also like to see some resolution to a number of lore questions throughout this trilogy.

Has anyone broke down the Terminals and deciphered the meaning behind them? I mean, in some of them they are talking about her and him this and that and whatnot. I’m lost…

The CEA terminals are only better because they are a video instead of text that takes time to read before being forced to another certain bit of text. Imagine if Bungie did Halo 3s terminals the way 343i did Anniversary’s.

Reading the Greg Bear Novels might put things into perspective for you.

“Him” and “Her” are talking about the Didact and the Librarian.

Dark? No… Not dark… Not dark at all. More like tragic. Yes… tragic.

i personally prefer the halo 3 terminals, seems so much more interesting when its only text it gives me more of a sense of mystery and fills my head with so much curiosity. They were very creepy and added the cryptic feel that halo has always had especially when mendicant bias hacks into them and starts communicating with you and also when you heard a voice talking backwards. There was nothing more eerie and mysterious than standing in a dead quiet deserted forerunner corridor reading about serious and intense events that took place 100,000 years ago.

although i do love the cea terminals they are very good but theres something about reading text that is alot more mysterious to me.

Will do. I have the original novels, looks like i’m going to have to hit B&N up soon.

I visit B&N all the time and they never have Halo: Primordium in stock. I want it… :frowning:

I can understand that, I prefer books over movies too. Your own imagination is far more powerful and involving.

Halo 1 was very dark and mysterious. Remember going into the “not naturally formed cavern” when you first got onto Halo? How huge it was when you got to the bridge part? Dark, mysterious, and just… eerie. I love that they’re going back to that.
