Josh Holmes says H5 has "improved AI behavior"

In a post explaining why split screen was cut, Josh Holmes wrote this:

“With Halo 5 we are delivering massive scale environments, improved AI behavior, increased visual and gameplay fidelity,” continued the post. “omething that truly takes advantage of a new platform.”
Now, I would absolutely love for this to be true, but from what I’ve seen in Warzone, the AI for the covenant are almost exactly the same, and the new Promethean enemy moves almost identically to the Elites. I was just wondering if anyone noticed any notable differences in AI behavior (particularly for the Elites and Covenant) in any gameplay vids they’ve seen?

Anything is better than the Spartan 4 AI in Halo 4

I don’t think the Spartan IV were featured as AI in Halo 4 were they?

They were, in some parts of the campaign and spartan ops.

Anyway, I hope that they really have improved the AI, for allies and enemies alike. So far allies have been nothing but walking targets wearing bullseye masks, and enemies have been brain-dead bullet sponges.

I just hope they finally make Marines more effective. Instead of previous games where you start the mission w/ a squad of marines and after your first encounter with enemies they’re all dead.

He also said ‘just as you remember it’ and ‘dedicated servers’. Take what he says with a pinch of salt.

This is one of the those things that I simply have to see before I can know one way or the other.

Of note, was playing Reach last night, and Kat literally walked alongside an Elite without shields up the beach on Long Night of Solace. Couldn’t be bothered to put a pistol round in its head.

Improved AI probably means that enemy AI has to react to a whole team of Spartans this time… don’t forget that H5 was built with 4-player coop in mind.
What I hope is that 4-player coop is really challenging not only in dealt/received damage like in the old games, but in the AI acutually making your job much harder the more human players there are.

4-player coop in H3 for example was pointless even on legendary difficulty - as there wasn’t a real challenge at all.

I really hope that 343i ramps up the difficulty in all the good ways.

Pretty sure that was Dan Ayoub, or at least someone who was actually on the MCC team. The games do play exactly as I remember them but the dedicated servers just never happened, most likely because they were trying to work out all of the launch issues and didn’t want to risk implementing them at the same time.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that we shouldn’t judge Halo 5 by what happened with MCC because they are completely different projects lead by different teams. Let’s just give Halo 5 a chance to be great.

Also, I miss Dan Ayoub.

But… will the A.I. be as advanced as this…?

So glad somebody posted this. I remember cracking up when I watched that announcement live during E3. They were so proud of those fish.

Even better, we have Space Whales now.

From the looks of the Warzone gameplay, enemy AI looks good as it always has, but marine AI hasn’t improved. They still do that slow ‘hunched’ walk thing, they still stand still 80% of the time, and they take about 5 seconds to raise their gun and shoot. They are literally worse than they were Halo CE, this is not an exaggeration!

They’re still AI one way or another.

Wait did they say that in their main e3 showing?
