Joseph Staten reprising Grunt voice?

Since this is Halo 4, the sequel to Halo 3, Grunts should be speaking English. So will Joseph Staten reprise his signature role? Or will the torch be passed onto another innocent bystander to sacrifice their voice for our entertainment?

I doubt it, Bungie is busy working on Destiny.

Grunts probaly sound all manly Marcus fenix like now…

lol, I honestly thought that said Joseph Stalin

And if 343 can’t get Staten through normal negotiations, I’m sure a few of the more enterprising community members could…acquire him from Bungie (I’ve got rope and a box of twinkies if anyone has any ideas.)

So I think the question should be whether or not we want a Joseph Staten like voice. Sure, it’s the very epitome of gruntdome as we know it but given the chance we have with a new trilogy to try something else…we should explore the other possibilities. Who knows, unintelligible snorts, for example, might just work better than yipping comedy.

“Grunts are less squeaky”

It seems like any and all connections to Bungie have been cut lose, save the occassional jab.
Similar thing has happened in Lubbock with a little known coach named Mike Leach. Don’t even mention the previous regime, no matter their success and pretend what is happening is “progressive.” BTW, for the first time in 20 years, Tech didn’t make a bowl game, had a losing overall record, losing home conference record, gave up a school record on defense, and had the worst loss in school history . . .

But Halo will probably be fine . . . :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably not, but I doubt it’ll be difficult to find a replacement.

What’s this Destiny you speak of?

Bungie’s next game that could (will :P) surpass the Halo series.

The only reason Covies appeared to speak English in previous Halo games was due to the translation software in Chief’s suit.

Seeing how Cortana has updated Chief’s armor’s firmware at the beginning of Halo 4, then I wouldn’t be surprised if she had dipped into the translation coding a bit thus making Covies sound a bit different. I always hated the Grunt’s helium voices. They took a huge hit to Halo’s badassery (is that a word?)

Anyway, I’d be glad if they got a new voice actor to do them.

What Regret thinks about that

Why are you calling it “Destiny?”

Actually during the halo panels ay halofest they mentioned that all he had to do was talk normally, they then used a computer to make the grunts voice.

IIRC, that’s the name of it. Either as a working title until they come up with a final one, or that’s the actual name. Not sure which; I don’t follow Bungie. All I know, I picked up in passing.

Just flabbergasted. Nobody else knows a “working title.”
Just wondering how you came across such information . . .

It could be possible that Joseph Staten could have been asked to do grunt voices for the game. Ultimately, I doubt that we would ever know unless we watch the credits our self once we complete the game.

I’m sure grunts will sound pretty much the game, maybe with a tad more gruntiness like each succeeding Halo game.

Like I said, everything I know about Bungie is just hearsay. None of it should be taken as concrete evidence of anything. I was just passing on what I heard to be true, is all.

Curious, did Staten voice the Grunts in Halo Wars?

Nope. I think there was mention of him doing the temp voice early in development but I do believe that the final yips and yaps were done by someone <strike>else~~.~~</strike>
