Jorge's accent

It’s English right? It certainly sounds that way to me. On Halopedia they say it’s Hungarian but to me it certainly doesn’t sound that way.

That is the voice actor of Jorge, he is Nigerian, Jorge himself was born in Pálháza, a Hungarian city, his accent to me does sound Hungarian as intended though, however, while being on other places of Reach, his accent may have changed naturally.

It’s English.

This is part of the issue though. Someone’s place of birth does not dictate their accent. I know an Australian girl with a Texan accent, Chinese born people with Australian accents, Australian people with English accents and many more weird and wonderful combinations. This isn’t even touching on the point of different accents in a single country.

To me Jorge sounds like a pretty standard big English character. Even his lines sound influenced by that. Halopedia is the only place I have ever heard a mention of him having a Hungarian accent.

This was a big issue when we first heard him, he is Hungarian, his accent is Hungarian, it just REALLY sounds English.

Did Bungie ever confirm his accent?

He doesn’t sound much english to me. English accent sounds like someone’s having potato in his mouth (I’ve been there and listened to many English people).
He also doesn’t sound hungarian. But if he was born away from Earth it’s no surprise, even if hungarian is his first language. When someone is born in Texas his english sounds different than english english ;).
Point is, it’s hard to imagine what accent would suit someone who is born in 26th century on some far-away planet and is having hungarian anscestors. Nigerian cast is good as any.

This. Could not have put it better myself.
