I understand why 343i would want this feature, however, we need some control.
My biggest issue with joining in progress, for warzone, is that we get less req/exp for the match. Not only do we have to play a game where we are most likely already losing. Not only do we have to play that match at a disadvantage due to missing the first bit of req exp. But we get punished with less exp/req points for sticking it out. And if we don’t stick it out, ban hammer.
In arena, they may have a limit as to how far in the game can be for you to join, but that doesn’t mean you won’t join a losing battle, and that your rank will suffer for it.
Two things need to happen:
-
Allow us to set wether or not we actually want to even be able to join matches in progress.
-
Stop penalizing us for joining a match in progress. Especially if you force it upon us.

I never had a chance to meet the requirements for the req, so it was wasted through no fault of my own. I agree with your points as well. I’m sure there’s a threshold that determines whether or not a player joins in progress (i.e. the two teams can only be a certain percentage of points apart, there must be at least X many points left, etc.), and your second point can be alleviated if these thresholds are tightened up a little bit.
I’ve noticed recently that they’ve fixed the boost issue by making it so if you join a match in progress your boost doesn’t actually get used. But this is only the beginning of fixes that need to be done.

Have they? I don’t believe I got credit for the req, and it was gone after the game still. Maybe I missed something, and maybe it was just buggy.
This is what’s wrong with JIP (We lost shortly after) I support JIP when it is done right, only in social playlists. Halo 5 does not do it correctly however.

This is similar to what I was talking about. Having a stricter requirement for joining, including point differences, and core defense in Warzone too. I’m not sure I’ve had this happen to me yet, but that would definitely make the list.
