Join in Progress...

… Needs to stop!

NOBODY wants to join a game on progress! Is there someone in here that could bring up an argument towards that mechanic? The only reason why it’s there is to fill up a spot for a team that just lost a teammate that got booted or quitted because he can’t take the pressure. So, basically, the join in progress system is a penalty we’re all suffering from BECAUSE of bad players/quitters.

Seriously, no! Bad 343, no!

I stopped counting the times I used a boost card like spartan kills or victory, only to be put into a game that’s about to finish or that we’re so far behind that you just can’t catch up.

Edit 1: I should have been clearer: it’s not really the JIP in itself that bothers me that much, it’s really the JIP system vs. REQ boosts that just really don’t make much sense, or is at least, incompatible.

Edit 2: Funniest thing is I’ve seen somewhere in those post-fight loading screens a kind of publicity that were kinda saying that if you were low on boosting cards, that you could BUY packs in the store (yep, with money) so you could get fresh boosts. Next thing you know, you use your paid cards just to lose them to join in progress.

Is it stupid or what?

Over 9000.

Depending on the game type or how early it is in the game, I would agree. The player joining in, unless they are joining in right after a match begins, shouldn’t be penalized in any way for a loss, though. If they used a boost, they ought to be able to retain it unless their team wins and they are able to cash it in.

I don’t mind JIP. It is a mixed bag and one doesn’t always lose.

People will quit, and we might as well accept that. 343 is banning quitters and disconnects, so everything is being done to stop the quitting. However, people will always quit for whatever reasons, and I don’t want to lose because someone randomly quit.

I joined a game today and I didn’t even spawn. It went right to the defeat screen, wasted a sweet boost on it. I think it needs to be fixed for sure. I don’t mind join in progress just not like that.

Here’s a simple solution to joining in progress:

Loss stats don’t count when you join a random session in progress (unless you quit). I say “random” because if you join a friend/recent player directly, it will not work. This is to make sure it’s not exploitable. If ranked modes had JIP, then joining a losing session will not degrade your rank either.

Yeah, situations like that definitely need to be fixed. JIP should be disabled way before that point is reached, even for a social playlist.

Personally, I don’t really mind JIP on a losing team that much (it’s still annoying a bit though), but when it’s 50%+ of your games, now that’s a problem.

What really bothers me is loosing a boost card because of it. And it seems to be happening to me a LOT these days.

I don’t know, it just feels so stupid: having a boost card system, then having a JIP system that destroys it.

I’m always put on the losing team most of the time because of -Yoinking!- quitters.

JIP has no place in arena, but I’m thankful it’s in warzone.

JIP was a huge problem for Halo 4, i’m glad to see Arena does not feature it, but Warzone does, it’s like the best of both worlds

I appreciate JIP when someone joins my team, so I don’t mind occasionally being the one to step in and help. I enjoy it when I join a game and help the losing team turn it around. I does suck if you used a boost - I think you should get a free duplicate boost if you get lumbered with a JIP match.

>Removes Jip

>End up with games 1 v 12

>343s fault for not having Jip

>Adds Jip

>End up with game 12v12 but losing 900 to 100

>343s fault for having Jip

Rinse and repeat

Well, I should have been clearer, it’s not really the JIP that bothers me that much, it’s the JIP vs. boost cards that makes no sense at all.

I guess one solution would be to let you know if you’re about to join a game in progress (but after you can back out) so you have at least a chance to de-equip a boost card.

Voilà!

JIP is always one those -Yoink!- if you do and -Yoink!- if you don’t situations. I think it is needed for the larger game types for when the kids get mad and leave.

Just started: When JIP Req Level is 1, before it would setup a Req level based on your game experience.
