Why?
Because on Tuesday I had to leave multiple games half way through because my teammates would all leave due to us currently losing and the game would become 5 vs 2 in CTF. Or worse, me against everyone on the enemy team.
And because the Join In Progress systm no longer lets people join games after a certain point has passed, that unfair team split stays until the end of the game.
I had to leave and lose so many games because of it, that I got banned for a night of matchmaking.
The solution of this problem is so glaringly simple, I wonder if there’s a reason it can’t happen.
Disable the “Leave Game” option right before the Join In Progress disables for a gametype.
If the team cannot be readjusted to account for the loss, people should not be allowed to leave and screw over everyone else still in the game. If people cannot be responsible for their own actions, 343 should make them stay. I shouldn’t be forced to have to take a loss because the JIP system no longer allows for my team to be refilled after so long during the game time.
and what’s stopping them from punching the power button on their 360?
> and what’s stopping them from punching the power button on their 360?
Nothing, but it atleast makes them have to work to get back in the game.
But there is nothing that justfies me either having to take a Ban from leaving too much or multiple losses because I can’t have a full team after so many minutes.
A much better option would be if after that halfway cutting point, if a minimum of half your team has left the game, then the remaining can vote for the “End game” to happen right now. If the remaining team members all vote for it, the game ends right there with victory going to the other team.
Saves you from getting angry at the outcome or ragequitting, and stops the other team from padding out their score and stats.

Yes, but then you’d get trolls who’d just get like 4 kills up, then hide somewhere and all vote for an end game. Easy -Yoink- win.

People I know, who can be in a game at a people disadvantage and still be ahead don’t normally quit.
The option would have to be regulated to only be given if the lesser team is losing.
Still I would much rather Leave Game was disabled. It really stinks when your party is made up of a group of 4 friends who all leave together and you’re stuck defending your flag by yourself, wondering where your entire team is as all 5 enemies decend upon you, rape you, and -Yoink!- your corpse with flag in hand.

I said if half your team has left and the remaining votes for it, not if the other team votes for it.

The problem remains that its still a forced loss though. Whether I sit there and they stomp me, I quit, or I use the system, I’m still being forced to lose the game and decrease my CSR.

Your options are to play with a team of friends or to stop playing. It’s really as simple as that.

Well my friends don’t play Halo, and no. In all honesty, its a system design flaw.
It needs to be changed that you only have so long to leave a game before you’re forced to play it.

It’s not a system design flaw at all - it’s a community flaw. A system design flaw would be a game that’s literally designed to not let you stop playing it. People should be able to quit if and when they want to.
You’re looking for results and your fix wouldn’t even provide them. People would quit to the Dashboard or power off their Xbox 360s to escape games that couldn’t be quit, and you would still be stuck in the same position - I promise you that. It’s not a system design flaw at all. The system works perfectly. It allows - without encouragement - quitting, and it should.
Your only hope is to find some friends who would enjoy playing Halo with you.
I wouldn’t have even cared before CSR.
Really wish Ranking hadn’t be introduced, but now I have to keep trying to raise it so as not to be paired with idiots.
And even that doesn’t always help, since I keep getting matched against teams who are higher levels than me with teammates who are lower level than me.
As for finding friends, that’s a -Yoink- answer.
The responsibility to should not be on my part to find a way to make people stay in a game. If we’re gonna do something that doesn’t involve making people stay by force, they need to choose to on their own, and leaving games should bring about a ban faster than it does.
And like I said, I have no problem with them dashboarding or powering off. But then they have to go all the way back into the game each time they do and leaving the game wastes a whole bunch of their time. Which is like a Karmatic victory.

Make friends with some people here on the Halo Waypoint forums and form a team. Join a clan if you want to. Bottom line is that you’re making this harder on you than it needs to be. If you care about your rank in anything but Rumble Pit, you need to have a reliable team. If you don’t have a reliable team, you shouldn’t care about your rank. If you tried to go all lone wolf as a General in Halo 3 Ranked Matchmaking, you would be continually stomped. It’s very similar here. You’ll find the ranking system hard to conquer without reliable people to your back. I’m sure you already know all of this. I just find it silly that you’re complaining about the ranking system when you’ve already given up on even trying to find teammates.
Reliable people are hard to find.

There’s already a penalty for quitting, and it should not be exacerbated, because there are legitimate reasons to have to quit occasionally. Personally, I think it’s a perfectly viable solution to have to find a friend or two to play the game with. It’s not by any means hard. You’re talking to a man cave of Halo players right now, and telling us that you don’t want to find teammates?! That’s silly and absurd, and you’re spelling out your own doom.
You do have a problem with people quitting to their Dashboard or powering off, actually. I know this because I’m sure some people who have quit on you have done those things, and you still became angry at their quit. The reason for that is because it didn’t make a difference to you - a quitter is a quitter from your end. It’s no solution to make people have to jump through hoops to quit. It’s simply an absurd, angry idea you came up with.
Find some friends. Make a team. Play some Halo. And you’re going to have a much better time.
You still have not solved the issue. Which you have gotten so off point from
Why should a random player be forced to fail when the JIP cuts off after a certain point?
When no one else is going to join the game, you have the options of Lose or Quit, which is still a loss no matter what.
> Reliable people are hard to find.
They’re around every corner and you simply have to look for them.
I have had to dashboard once now in CTF. I usually stick it out but if they are just farming kills with the flag in their hand I dashboard. I am not really fussed about my CSR atm but yea if I was I would be partying up with some others for sure. Team scoring encourages that.
> You still have not solved the issue. Which you have gotten so off point from

> Why should a random player be forced to fail when the JIP cuts off after a certain point?
Because that’s how the game works. Because the community has said “We don’t like joining a game that’s halfway done”. Because historically, Halo has never even utilized a “Join-in-Progress” function.
But it’s honestly mostly because people don’t like being put in an in-progress game. You could consider this community a democracy. Many people voted on the issue, and they found joining after a certain point to be unacceptable. It’s for the common good of the players. That’s really the crux of it.
The reality is that you’re never even guaranteed a fighting chance, so why shouldn’t you fail when your teammates have failed you? Team-based modes are (no-brainer here) a team effort, and so when three-fourths of the team decides it’s not worth it, the remaining one-fourth is going to fail. Isn’t that logical?

Its illogical to allow the situation to come to pass in the first place, which is what I was saying.
And you’re basically saying that Randoms should just suck it up and accept or not play certain gametypes if they don’t like it.
Join in Progress is a thing, so Leave Game after its no longer possible to fill a team should not be a thing. I’m sorry, but you won’t convince me its ever ok to force someone to take a loss because other people gave up when it could have possibly been prevented or discouraged.
Atleast with a full team in the second half of the game, there is a chance for a comeback victory.
A forced loss is not acceptable in any terms.
