Join In Progress = Terrible Idea

Dear 343, join in progress is the stupidest -Yoinking!- thing you’ve done to my beloved Halo. All the previous Halo games never had this crap. Who is the genius employee at 343 who decided it would be a good idea to implement such an idiotic and useless feature? Fire him/her immediately and never let that person touch a Halo game ever again. If I wanted to join a team losing by thousands of points, I’d go play COD. I thought this was fixed already in one of the updates but it’s not. I just joined three separate games of CTF and all three times my team was losing by 3 points. Why? Why would you put anybody on a losing team? Let alone, 3 times in a row? It’s a 90% guaranteed loss for whoever joins that team. Join in progress is stupid as -Yoink-. Remove it immediately or fix it (properly this time) because it’s starting to really irritate me and many others. Honestly, I would rather wait in a pre-game lobby for 5 minutes and have a fresh start every time rather than getting put into a game immediately on the losing team.

Summary: Join In Progress is stupid and needs to get lost. Kill it. Kill it with fire.

It just needs refinement. I don’t want to go back to having team slayer end up being 4v1 or BTB 8v3 because of quitting.

Actually you are wrong. Halo PC had join in progress and not a single person complained.

I prefer JiP over playing 4v1 for the rest of a match

I like join in progress.
They should just put in
-A quick match option that utilizes join in progress for people who just play the game to be entertained and don’t care too much about winning or losing or just let you turn it off when trying to find a game.
-Keep it so you can join friends games if they are down a player
-Regular matching you don’t get put in a game already in progress and your about to loss.

Except when there’s no penalty for quitting, games would never be 4v1 because the 1 would quit out.

Join in progress is pointless.

Before:
People would quit, and one team would be down by a few players. This happened maybe once every fifteen to twenty games, in my experience. The problem became the team with fewer players usually got destroyed.

After:
We have games starting with 4v1, 5v1, even 8v0 during map voting, and then the system tries to recover for its faults by adding players mid-game. But guess what? One team is already down by several kills, caps, or seconds, and so the new players joining in are at a disadvantage.

The only advantage to join in progress is to the team with fewer players before more get added, but by that time the game is already won by the opposing team.

The setting for it need to be tweeked. One setting for sure is not joining a game where the winning team is ten kills or less from winning. Big thing that would help is a punishment for quiting games or leaving games. To many players uit becuase of the maps that get voted for

Is it working perfectly? No.

Is it pointless? absolutely not.

I never just quit out even when it was 4v1.

I took it as a personal challenge to hide and make those 4 earn it. :wink:

I heard Halo PC had JIP but nobody complained as what someone said…

But instead of removing it, why not just have the option to turn it off? I never feel like joining a game so it will always be off for me.

You know a flaw with JIP in my experience since I started playing MM in August? Whenever a team seems to get a 5 or so point lead, the game is practically decided between who wins. The only times I remember beating a team who’s in the lead about 5 points at the very least is my team gets really determined to beat the enemy team whos in the lead or in a very rare case… hubris…

I personally like the idea of joining games in progress. It significantly reduces the wait time between matches so I get to play more.
