Join in Progress shouldnt impact stats...

I understand why Join In Progress is a feature some want. But for a lot of us competitive players it can seem like the end of a lot of reasons we play Halo.

In Call of Duty, I never really cared about winning or losing because half the time the game was decided before I even joined.

Imagine if in Halo you join a 4 on 1 where the other side controls all power weapons and just absolutely has you locked down. There wont be much you can do no matter how skilled you are. Your win/loss record and stats will be severely hurt by this. The persistent drive to better these stats will be depleted because you wont feel they are an accurate representation of your abilities.

So, I propose a compromise. Allow join in progress to happen, but do not save the stats for the player who joined. Give them EXP, medals and credits or whatever for playing so the game is not ‘pointless’ for them. But don’t have their persistent stats such as K:D and W/L be impacted.

I think this is a fair compromise that preserves the competitive nature of Halo while allowing join in progress to help stem the annoyance of people quitting mid game.

Thoughts? Agree? Disagree?

Another option would be to have join in progress be by invite or friends only. So the only way to do so is if someone invites you to their game, or if you join a friends game in progress. But I do not think thats how it will work, so I propose the former solution.

Another option would be to strict it to different playlist if possible I know many people will still complain about that compromise you suggested but this option might work for the better.

Or instead of using the join in progress feature, just search for a new game.

Is it a feature? Or do you simply join a game and get thrown in to either a new game or one in progress?

Is there official word on how this works? Because Join In Progress in other games isnt an option, it happens randomly when you try to play. Call of Duty, BF3 etc. I simply try to play, sometimes I join a game in progress, sometimes I join a new one (rarely).

If i can ONLY play new games, then that is fine, but that will also defeat the purpose since very few people will actively opt in to joining in progress.

I don’t think we have an official word in this yet.

My guess is that we will be able to join a “Quick game” or a new game (similar to the GoW3 system)
343i didn’t make many mistakes now, I don’t think they will make a mistake with something that is very important.

I disagree, the ability to Join-Games-In Progress is an option given to players who want to join a game that is already taking place. You, as a player, are never forced to join in on games and if you should do so. You automatically agree to play the game no mater what the circumstances (that’s kind of why you joined it) so therefore you should be dedicated to it.

I highly doubt JIP will be applicable to playlists designed around intense competitive settings.
For playlists for recreational competitive engagements, well “competitive” players won’t really need a skill indicator will they?

how does K/D W/L matter these days in public stuff? i find that it only matters if your actually in the big leagues upon the top 35 teams in the MLG world. so i honestly don’t care for my K/D or W/L in this since it really has no significance either way. So it should only matter about how much fun your having in Halo 4’s War Games when playing public games.

Or you could just search for a new game.
