As someone who has been playing Halo for over 11 years, the join-in-progress + quit ban is one of the things (of many) that irks me about this game.
If you design a game that forces players into a guaranteed loss in an awful game type, such as SWAT on Lockout, and I am down 2 players losing 20-110 when I join… you better believe I am going to quit.
This would be okay if it happened occasionally maybe. But once you get 3 out of 4 games as a join-in-progress, you can’t blame anyone for quitting. Design some decent maps, remove join-in-progess, and then keep the quit ban.
To think I pay for your game plus the DLC and am banned when 343 forces me into a game I don’t want to play is a joke. This kind of ridiculousness is why you’re losing your dedicated fan base (amongst a laundry list of other problems). Furthermore, the best playlist is composed of maps that 343 didn’t even design. Embarrassing…
Not overly concerned about a W/L ratio… I’m paying good money to get a gametype I want to play. I do not appreciate being thrown in a game late that I didn’t vote for.
Hmmm, it is the quitters fault for some of us that get put into a match via JIP…didn’t people ask for JIP anyways? I myself have a like/dislike feeling about it, yes being put into losing matches suck, worse being put into matches that have less then a few seconds left…on the otherhand if someone leaves while we are ahead and the JIP system fills that spot fast enough, there is no extra work to be had.
I quit a few matches in war games one time then decided to hell with it and started playing spartan ops solo. About fifteen minutes into my spartan ops game I got the message saying I had been banned from multiplayer for 60 minutes. The question is does the ban even count if I wasn’t even trying to play multiplayer anymore? LMAO at silly quit ban
This is a HUGE deal, especially for people that play objective games such as myself. When I get thrown into a CTF game down 3-0, and the scores of my team avg. ~50 and the other team avg’s ~150-200, I -Yoinking!- leave. I’m assuming everyone that is for the JIP+Quit ban only play slayer, otherwise theyre -Yoinking!- insane.
Okay, here is a trick for you to use with the JiP.
How do I know I am Joining a game in progress?
How you tell this is that the other spartan player cards will show up on your screen in all their glory.
What do I do about it?
I say one of 2 things.
Join the game and help the team that had a quitter or two to win the match. Then stay with that group so you are much less likely to have another JiP.
When you determine that you are Joining a Game in progress. Press start and go to your network settings. Select the option of my xbox 360. Then go back to Network, and select xbox live again. Here is a link: http://youtu.be/MFB5SlKAqIE
I have to add that I like JiP. I just wish that there wasn’t so much of a need for it. I hated playing games like CTF, or assault, only to have half the team quit because of whatever reason leaving me and 1 or 2 guys to try to win an impossibly lop sided match. It is possible to win such a match against players of lesser skill, but if they are close to your skill level the game might as well be done.
In my opinion, when people quit off my team that really irks me. With the quit ban, people may think twice before quitting which makes the experience better for everyone.
