Join In Progress for Local Games

This isn’t what you’re thinking, I’m sure. I’m simply talking about being able to pick up another controller next to someone who’s already in the middle of a game and be able to quickly join in and play as well. I was reminded of this old feature when I was watching Shaun of the Dead. Specifically where you see Shaun quickly joining a game of Timesplitters 2 but then leaving again for work.

As games started to put the 360/PS3 through their paces, graphics wise, it sort of died out along with splitscreen. And that’s one of the reasons why I love Halo over other games; how every Halo game has always supported four player splitscreen no matter how graphically advanced it got. And so, with the new hotness here, console wise, can we get back to this now? It would be so awesome to just press a button and sign in with even just a temporary profile and be right in the action with your friends or relatives or rivals or what have you.

Sounds good.

I still think JIP should only apply for social games, and not ranked.

But like Halo REACH, you could join a person in a rank game, but you would join there party and only connect with them when the game had ended.

I assume by local you mean offline custom games.

Isn’t that already possible? I believe you could do that in Halo 3, no? I didn’t know they took it out.

Actually I did some testing and apparently, all games from Halo 3 and up do support local JIP.

HOWEVER, not one game supports local JIP for either Campaign or Firefight. I guess we can do without local JIP for Campaign, but Firefight should definitely have it.
