Join in progress a hinderance to CSR?

Does anyone else seem to join matches where the opposing team is already completely destroying? And does anyone else find it absolutely annoying that your individual skill based CSR treats the match as if you’ve been there the entire time?

I can’t seem to jump into most playlists without joining in progress. I never back out after matches because It’s the only way to decrease my chances of a JIP.

On top of all that, 90% of JIP’s put me on a team that is losing by a large amount.
Which wouldn’t bother me as much in individual skill based playlists if my CSR didn’t act like I was in the match from the start. (I’m sure you can understand why it would bother me in W/L based playlists.)

Obviously, I can’t be the only person that experiences this.

Has happened to me. Very annoying.

Only solution would be to compare all the players time spent in game and adjust the score according to that. Then again, if a player joins in for the last three minutes and gets a kill or two, it would be unfair to the top players in the game if his score was multiplied.

The JIP could also be score dependent. Like the leader can have only 25% of the final score etc.

My solution; remove JIP completely from the ‘ranked’ playlists, and make the JIP time smaller for the social playlists.

Thank you for your post. We have updated several playlists with new Join-In-Progress parameters which limit how late you can join, and ensure that you can and must contribute significantly to the match. We will continue to update each playlist and game mode with new parameters and provide updates when appropriate.

Thanks!

Any playlist that has very strict CSR should have join in progress turned off.

I think also the ban hammer is to lenient on players that quit out. It seems a bit much when a match has 2 to 4 players coming and going constantly.

I only had 1 JIP game all day yesterday and it said incomplete in the stats so I don’t think it affected my CSR either way.

Join in progress is a complete hindrance to the CSR. Clearly, the player before you quit out because of a bad situation. Whether it was because of the awful lag that plagues this community, or their team is getting beat down. When you join in progress, you are at a huge disadvantage because you are treated as if you played the whole game, where in reality, all the other players in the game have a head start on getting points. You are almost guaranteed to lose ranks. And even if you are joining in the “small window” (I’ve been put in to games after the first extraction point was armed) you miss the rush for the power weapons and map control. Essentially, a join in progress was another bust that 343i placed in to the halo franchise. 343i stated that join in progress was added to get players in to games faster. When I get put in to a game in progress I am instantly frustrated because I am forced in to a bad position, such as lag, the other team already has map and weapon control, or just flat out destroying my team. Players quit out for a reason. Don’t make me fill their shoes.

Agreed.

For the play lists I want to really try for a fifty in, if I start and it shows the Player Cards and I can not press ‘B’ and exit, I know it is JIP, so, I Dashboard and restart Halo 4 disc. I’m not having JIP ruin my chances for a good CSR.

That’s not good enough, IMO.

Why?

Because I regularly have between 4 to 9, sometimes more, JIP games in a row. That has a serious effect on a CSR. There can be no denying that. It happens and that is not good, no matter if it is a one minute window for selected play lists.

Also, the above is unfair for the so-called Social play lists where the individual scoring system is used for the CSR. Having between between 4 to 9, sometimes more, JIP games in a row happens in those lists too, obviously. Despite what some may think, many people take Infinity Slayer, BTIS, SWAT and other game modes very seriously and compete to win and do well as an individual too. Sure, on the one hand you might rank up faster but, this will be ruined significantly by having JIP at almost any stage during the game.

JIP should be treated fair and balanced for ALL play lists and modes, not just for the lists some might think are more worthy of having a one minute window and others the free for all JIP at almost anytime option. Why should our efforts to get and maintain a CSR50 be deemed less worthy than say Team Throwdown; it simply is not fair.

343i, please make the sixty second window apply to all lists and modes.

Thumbs up for the post. 343 please just remove JIP.

Don’t dashboard. Hit start go down to network, select my xbox, go back to my network, select xbox live, no need to dashboard.

As for JIP two of my first games were horrible. The first had me 4v1 to start and didn’t find anyone until I was down 3-0 in ctf (we lost). The second joined me into a ctf game as the other team capped the flag to win 5-0. The only reason I even let it go to jip the second game was because it took forever to match up. The insta loss was an awesome reward!

Ranks and JIP just don’t go together. We just need a ranked and social playlist.

I have the distinct pleasure of joining games in progress on the losing team about 90% of the time. And nothing gives me more satisfaction then turning the tide of said games.

While not perfect, I will take JIP over full team quitting any day of the week.

Everyone you don’t need to dashboard to avoid JIP.

When you see player cards appear go to the start menu, go down and across 2 to where it says xbox live, in there select system link. This stops you searching/joining, you then go back, change it to xbox live and start searching again.

JIP is a joke, should be an option for casuals not a hindrance for competitive players.

And 343i:

No matter what, it cannot be fair even to join in the first 60 seconds, the other team can have power weapon control, map control, hell they can even be on their first ordinance by the time you eventually get in. If I join in progress I don’t want it to count to CSR: even if I go onto the winning team, it’s not fair for anybody.

Look at your abysmal population and think about it, break the casuals away from the competitive players. Currently CSR in most playlists rewards rushing and killing and dying and killing and dying, not setting up controlling spots and ensuring a good spread.

I wanted halo 4, not CallofHalo

As long as we aren’t being put into games midway through…

remove JIP, problem solved!
