I REALLY do not want join in to be something forced. I like playing NEW games, not in the middle of old ones.
If any of you have played GOW3, you know how bad join - in MM can be and how people can unfairly win and lose based on joining a game that ends 3 seconds after they join.
Please, please, please give the player the ability TO CHOOSE to join in or start a new MM game. Like have it a set option.
I am gonna be really, really, REALLY, mad if in Halo 4 I keep joining games in progress.
Yeah. I would hate it if I had to join a game in progress and find out that my team is losing 15-40 and there are 2 minutes left.
My guess is that social will have join in but ranked will not.
EDIT: I don’t see how this is such a big deal either because people have been asking for custom game finders and that’s pretty much what social join in will be.

Join in custom games =/= join in MM games
I don’t think you get it. Maybe I WANT to always play new games. I DON’T want to join in games. I would also be mad if I had to play ranked to do it.
I mean, all 343i has to do is just have a box saying look for new games or join in games.

Agreed. This will be a great feature, if optional.
yes allow us to have that as a mm search pref instead of default. I hated that in CoD and BF3. Never felt like I learned anything by being in a match for like 10 seconds or less.

I have played both. You search in social and join a game in progress. Then it keeps you all in the lobby and you get put in a new game. This cycle keeps on going until you back out.
That means although the first game you join may be ending soon you will be able to play full games with the same people exactly like what would happen if you joined a friends custom game in Halo.
And social pretty much is turning in to custom games as all those gametypes that used to be restricted to customs are all over social. Living Dead and Action Sack ring a bell?
So yes, I understand completely how that works and how H4 could work if it is the same system.
Also, why would you be mad if you had to play ranked? If you care about stats you would want to play competitively, if you don’t care about stats you shouldn’t mind joining games in progess.
I personally like the idea of this for social playlists. Has it been confirmed that there is going to be a ranked playlist?

Keyword there is ranked. Joining games in progress will not be featured in ranked play. And if you play with a full party of friends in social, you won’t be able to join a game in progress because you can’t play a game without a team to face.

It could ruin games. At least keep it out of ranked
