Does anyone else get extremely upset about this? What happened to the times where you could go into matchmaking and I didn’t have to worry about my teammates all being in a party because the communication system is messed up? What happened to the extremely competitive days of halo 3 when you could talk trash to the other team and actually see who is saying something? Is talking on Xbox live really that hard to figure out?? All I want is to be able to speak to my teammates in the lobby and also be able to see whos speaking. Is that too much to ask? does anyone else agree?
Also please tell me if there are any other communication concerns you guys might have. We have to have this game fixed.
Yeah I loved the old trash talk in Halo 2 and 3 but apparently you have to be in a party to talk to your own friends now. Ridiculous
Game chat works, I sit in party chat for the reason you said you’d do above. No reason I should listen to trash talk.

I understand that aspect, but you dont find it ridiculous that you cant talk in the lobby? or even see who is speaking?

Its very ridiculous
Party chat has ruined the possibility of teamwork if you try playing solo, everyone is apparently too lazy or unaware of how to go out of party chat into game chat at the beginning of a game and since lobby chat doesn’t work everyone in a party is forced to be in party chat anyways. Really makes you wonder about all those close games 50-48 or 45-50 that if the lobby chat worked a couple of call outs would have swung those games when part of the team was in party chat and some were in game chat. If I’m in party chat and I see that my randoms have mics I have myself and my party switch to game chat at the beginning of the match but hardly anybody does this and I will say it does get annoying to have to switch between party and game chat every game time after time just because the normal lobby chat doesn’t work. This is a much bigger problem that doesn’t get talked about much, the non existent broken lobby/fireteam chat causes problems that extend into many of the issues that get discussed to death, anything having to do with any teamwork or communication is affected, maybe there wouldn’t be so many blowout games if lobby chat worked or if everyone could hear each other, maybe there would be less quitters as a result of games being closer, the lobby chat that existed in the past worked just fine and nobody was forced to be in skype or private chat. Met some good players in h2 and h3 that were just randoms in gamechat, now those people and their one or two friends are in party chat and can’t hear anything or say anything to the random people in gamechat, and I’m sure its cost many of close games, or eliminated the possibility of a close game or making a new friend or reliable teammate
I’ve never been able to join a random fire team’s party which is horrible, because we need communication!
Rarely does anyone speak in gamechat. If they do it seems like they think the goal of each match is to see how many curse words we can use in a sentence. Don’t get me wrong, I know all those words and have been known to use them, but I don’t care to hear it nonstop for 10 minutes. That’s my experience 99% of the time.

I can respect that lol! Every once in a while you find someone cool to talk to, but it’s so rare!
I’ve always done private parties with my friends since Halo 3. Halo 3’s “mute all” option was my favorite. I have 0 interest in talking to randoms. I was actually pretty annoyed at the fact that there is no “mute all” option in Halo 5 as far as I’ve found.

It’s there, you just can’t access it until the match starts and it turns back off as soon as the match is over. I would so love the ability to mute people in the lobby.
This is my one true gripe with H5. We always use game chat but it’s so hard to keep up the tradition when you constantly lose the ability to talk to your own fireteam in the lobbies

Very well said!
i can’t understand why this isn’t a hotter topic in the forum. Like you said, fixing this could alieviate a lot of people’s other troubles with the game.
its certainly a lot more important than some of issues people come in here to complain about.

Couldn’t have said it better myself! I’m so glad people think this is a pressing issue, because it is. I cannot tell you how many times I have lost games due to lack of communication. And for us competitive players every game counts especially in ranked playlists. I just wish 343 would fix this.

After playing a bit yesterday with my party of 3 and only using game chat, it seems like the chat doesnt come back in until a dedicated server has started. Could this perhaps be the limitation? I previous halo games, everything was P2P, so when you joined a lobby, it was essentially on someone elses network. Seems like since the game lobbies in H5 dont connect to a server till a game is found, the game chat is just not possible prior to that moment. It would be great if they could fix that.
The game chat is so messed up, I can never hear anyone properly between matches. Really annoying to switch back & forth between party & game, and then half the time it glitches out and won’t switch even though the UI updates. And then some people will be stubborn about staying in party chat, while others are stubborn about staying in game chat, it’s ridiculous – this stuff was so much more seamless in H3, I’m really surprised they haven’t addressed the broken communication yet. That’s a seriously important part of halo, especially when combined with the whole full-teams-matching-randoms aspect.
Can we get some sort of official word from 343 on this? If for some architectural reason it is impossible to ever add fireteam chat, then fine, I would at least like to know that so I can stop looking forward to it. It’s awkward to just go on pretending the issue doesn’t exist.
