I thought we could have a nice little discussion/debate about where you personally think John-117’s greatest achievement lies. It can be something from either the books, games or any other official HALO media.
Now, for me? To be neutral, seeing as this man has destroyed several Halo rings, the Ark, taken down rampant A.I., beaten ancient War heroes, eliminated the flood, beaten down armadas of Covenant, invaded and destroyed ships, I’m gonna go ahead and vouch that his greatest achievement is the fact that he’s still standing.
I’ll go with continually putting himself second for others or the greater good. All other achievements stem from this ideology he up holds. He is mantle worthy.

Pretty much. Johns nobility and commitment to his mission have allowed him to achieve all that he has, despite what it has cost him over the years.
That he is still alive. Out of 33 II’s there are only what 13 left and none of them went through what he did. Yes they all went through a lot of horrible battles but none of them were on the Halos or the Ark and none of them were on Requiem.
He hasn’t achieved his greatest achievement until he is dead (not that dying in itself would be his greatest achievement, no, no). We won’t know his greatest achievement until he finishes the fight-again. There’s more to be done, ladies and gents.
I’d say so far, his greatest achievement is in indeed, like others have said, being alive.
His greatest achievement was helping to bring an end to the war, and destroying some of the forerunner installations. 04 twice, and the Ark. After that he just started screwing up massively. Led covi faction to a place with new weapons and tech. Woke up a monster that wants to turn people into robots. Failed to save anyone. Let one of earth’s biggest cities get turned to robots, let his AI die. He seems to have lost his luck after the war. He is causing more problems than he is solving now.
The best thing John has ever done was the nuke detonation against the Didact, but that is just an example of him time and time again willing to sacrifice his life for the greater good, I wish more of us could be like him.
