I feel like he remembers some about his family.
Naomi remembered some about her family. Also John remembered that girl who was his friend from when he was six, when he comes across her in that one Halo:Evolutions short story.

Yes, he most likely would. But if his family is alive or not, thy wouldn’t recongize him. After all, they lived with John’s clone and he died of sickness so for them, John is dead but they will never know the truth.

I get it. That’s why the original number of Spartan-IIs to be conscripted was cut in half. Because out of the original 150, those other 75 kids were used to create John. They took all the best parts of each of them and amalgamated them into one super-being. That’s why he’s the jack-of-all-trades of the Spartans.
