This has been getting a lot of hate since the begining. I find it very curious as to why he’s using it.

Obviously what they showed at E3 was just a teaser which happen diferently ingame.

Imagine he is on a neutral Covenant/Human ground/Planet and doesn’t want to be recognized, or even simply disguising himself as a regular traveler or something.

Its clear he doesn’t really need that cloak to survive.

A lot of people go straight to blasphemy.

It was stated by 343i that not only was John wearing the cloak to mask his appearance, but also to protect his armor from the constant blasting of sand.

Fast moving objects, such as blowing sand or bullets, will strip your shields relatively quickly and then get clogged into the armor, ruining it.
