John's Chest Armor

So is there any canonical reason why The Master Chief’s chest armor is fixed? (It doesn’t have the damage from falling out of orbit from H3) I haven’t read any of the newer comics or books, but I assume since John and Blue team have been more on grid with the UNSC prior to Halo 5, that he would have gotten it fixed up… But if not, is it just an armor floof by 343?

I’m not really sure. A vague reason could be to say that with the Master Chief’s time back with the UNSC, he got repairs to his armor. However usually, 343i doesn’t make much changes to things without a reason in the canon. For example, people were wondering why the elites in Halo 4 looked different than the ones in Halo 3. This is actually because the are two different species of Sangheili.

He got his armour repaired/new armour.

Cortana upgraded it between halo 3 and 4.

Likewise I still have never found out how the Arbiter got off the FUD lol.

After returning to Earth, Master Chief’s armor was repaired and also upgraded to the GEN2 platform.

They’re not different species, they’re different factions engaged in civil war.

The prophets controlled all manufacturing in the covenant, so when the covenant fell, the Sangheili needed to figure out how to start all that back up. As a consequence, the Arbiter’s faction, the Swords of Sanghelios, controls most of those factories and the Covenant remnant was undersupplied in comparison. The covenant remnant was who you fought in Halo 4.

It’s in halo 3 he doesn’t get off it gets cut in half by the portal. And also his armor was still damaged.

Well yeah she upgraded it, but if you look the armor’s “scar” is still there. And that cutscene on the last level shows the FUD front half fall into a body of water, and some techy people got him out…

He meant different races of sangheili. And yes they are and you’re right about the prophets controlling the designs.

When the Forward Unto Dawn was going through the portal, the portal collapsed in on itself - this severed the ship in half. The Arbiter was on the bridge at the time and his half made it through and back to Earth. Master Chief’s half however did not make it and he was left stranded in space for four years. If you play the last level of Halo 3 (or simply look up the cutscene) you’ll be able to see it explained.

Lmao still a spoiler 5 years later?

Its been over 8 months since hes been off the FUD with the UNSC, im pretty sure he can get some repairs between then, and this aint lore related but he also has a green undertone as well instead of black, this is simply because in each Halo title there has always been a pattern of his appearence being evolved, for example: (Halo CE: Mark V Armor, H2: Mark VI, H3: Same armor but minor changes, cracks in chest and different hand/gauntlet armor Look if you dont believe me and H4 a new look entirely, but still M VI) it only makes sense to continue this repeated tradition and to distinguish his look from H4 to H5, and im pretty sure Grimbrother or somebody else has already mentioned this before.

Mmmm. I don’t think that’s the case. The MK VI worn by Chief in H4 is supposed to be the same suit of armor he received in Halo 2. Cortana’s/nanomachine’s upgrades/adjustments were likely minor things like changing the HUD or messing around with other internal systems/components. She didn’t re-design his entire armor.

Think about it. Do you really think Cortana had the resources to completely redesign Chief’s armor? And if she did, you mean to tell me she slipped him out of the tube while he was sleeping, altered all the external components of his armor, then put him back in? And wouldn’t Chief have noticed such a huge change once he woke up? And even if Cortana had the resources and machinery to upgrade/make new armor and/or remove/replace armor, why would she leave him with a battle scar on his chest?

As far as I’m concerned (unless you have evidence to prove otherwise, of course), the only changes the Mjolnir’s nano-machines or Cortana would’ve made post H3 would be very minor. Chief’s armor in Halo 4 is the retconned MK VI. His armor in H5 I would feel inclined to assume, is his repaired MK VI with Gen 2 upgrades and minor external changes.

Cortana redesigned the Firmware, not the armor. We have gotten both nano-bots and artistic license as reasons that it changed.

His Mark VI is now generation 2 Mjolnir. all Mjolnir is now Generation 2.

Watch the end of halo 3. Arby’s half goes through the portal and crashes into earth’s ocean. A bunch of marines cut him out of the ship.

It’s worth noting that we don’t get a clear view of Chief’s chest until he’s already crashed on Requiem. It’s entirely possible that she did fix the chestplate, only for it to be broken again upon crashing.

Arbiters half of the FUD made it back through the portal and landed on Earth, he was then cut out of the wreakage. After speaking to lord Hood him and Half-Jaw head back to their home-world.
