Which of the 2 styles of the Jiralhanae do you prefer, the more hairy ones from Halo 2, or the shaved guys from Halo 3 and Halo: Reach?
I prefer this look. That’s how they should look in a future game, IMO. I’m also interested in this concept Brute from Halo 4. What is 343i planning?

That was for the prologue, considering we don’t have any other Brute concept art. They literary make concept art for every little detail in the game, I would know, I’ve been collecting any concept art I can get my hands on for a while now.

The first one looks a little to much like a rino to me
But the Other one might work as a new form of chieftain.
Who knows… maybe the brutes now praise a giant fat guy
Mostly shaved - the more alien the better. The first one Nihilus posted is pretty good.
I have to say, I wonder if we’ll ever see them again now
I would like to see both, chalk it up to pack/tribal differences. I hope that if Brutes do return in gameplay we get both Reach style shaved, damage spongy Brutes along side the more ‘sophisticated’ shielded Brutes from the Halo 3 era(maybe with more fur), and preferably a balance between H3 and ODST in terms of damage resistance. In Halo 3 they were a little too weak, but the shields in ODST we a smidge too strong.
I’m agreeing with “both.” One of the cool things Halo: Combat Evolved had was slight variations for grunts, elites and jackals. Some jackals had helmets, some grunts had curved packs, some elites had helmets with wings with reverse angles. I liked that. Made things seem a bit more like real life – mismatching gear in a greater army.
So, yeah. Having the opponents vary in appearance beyond just armour would be cool too.

Oh maybe. I didn’t consider that because they just used a Halo 3 Chieftain so I thought that design might be a post-war Brute. I would like to see a Post-war Brute.
Halo 2 Brutes.
That is all.
Make em’ hairy 343! That’s what makes them stand out among the other species. Personally I’d like them to look something like this or this. I never really liked the shaved Reach Brutes. Halo 3’s were a bit better imo but given that they’re less organised now, I think full on hairy would suit them best.
I didn’t really like Halo 3’s Brutes (too over the top scary, like they were trying too hard), but I like Reach’s (which seemed less over the top, which allowed them to be a bit scarier)
I guess it all depends on what their overall design is.
I think I’d have to go with hairy Brutes, they just look more intimidating.

I agree. They should have that whole ‘Gorilla Grodd’ look going on. Just seems cooler.

I’m pretty sure that is a sketch of the Brute from the Prologue of the campaign.
Hairy, they are savages, they deserved to be viewed as savages.
I love the Halo 2 and Halo 3 brutes and would like to see both of them in future games. As others have said, chalk it up to pack differences. I really dislike the Reach brutes though…

Send me an online copy of what you have if you have an online copy, I’m very interested.
I couldn’t stand the look of 3/ODST’s Brutes. They lost that savage, scariness that they had in 2. Reach got the savageness back, but they were pretty easy. I liked the bullet sponges of Halo 2. So Halo 2 gameplay wise, and a more Reach-like appearance.
I prefer the ones from Halo 3. In Reach, they looked way too apelike. They’re supposed to be a cross between a rhino and a gorilla, but in Reach they just looked like gorillas.

Agree with this. Hairy Halo 2 style Brutes with Reach’s weapons and armour would be what I’d like to see. Also, making them taller and more generally “massive”.
Well, considering how Brutes change drastically in appearance in every Halo game (except for ODST since it used the H3 engine) my guess is that if Brutes are in H5, then they will look significantly different.
Personally, I like the physical appearance of the Brutes in Reach, but make them bigger and a little more hairy. Also, in H5, they need to be more savage and brutal than ever, and make them more difficult.
I didn’t like the H2 Brutes. Their appearance seemed uninspired, and they weren’t fun to fight at all.
I hated the H3 Brutes, due to their appearance and the fact that they were so weak (of course, that was for gameplay purposes, due to Brutes having Power Armor).
The Brutes should also be changed in terms of gameplay, as they haven’t been the most popular enemies to fight.
