Jiralhanae in Halo 4

i dont know about the rest of the community, but I believe the Jiralhanae NEED to return to Halo 4. After all, they are the main reason the Elites left the Covenant and eventually allied with humanity. So why leave them out of the picture? They changed the way people thought of the Covenant.

and also, i would love to see playable Jiralhanae for multiplayer. Even if it is as restricted as Sanghieli in Halo: Reach. Sure they are much much larger and use power armor, but they could still be in Multiplayer.

for example: in Reach Sanghieli were stronger, faster, and did not require healing, but were larger than the Spartan III counterparts. Now in Halo 4, if they have to make Sanghieli and Spartans uneven again, they could add in Jiralhanae and have them larger than both species, take more damage, run faster, jump higher, do not require healing, yet their “shields” (power armor) do not regenerate, regardless of settings on custom games.

Jiralhanae are my favorite species of covenant and would love to play as one in multiplayer. JUST IMAGINE MACHINIMA!!!

I can’t imagine why the brutes wouldn’t be back, but I doubt they will be playable unfortunatly

If they were to return, they would probably be something that we wouldn’t pay much mind to, especially in Halo 4. Like Franky said, the Covenant are not going to be our biggest problem. And also, in reference to that Halo Evolution story, The Return, the brutes are being whipped by the elites and are in a civil war among themselves. So that will probably play a twist to their return.

But I have pondered the thought that, the Covenant has collapsed since Halo 3. So why are they returning in Halo 4? And how are we sure that the Brutes will be involved? Maybe there is some kind of Covenant reformation, because we know that they are politically changed. Maybe we will find out in Karen Travis’s next book.

The notion of the Covenant should’ve stayed dead frankly. The Brutes were never that interesting outside of the story and even then, they were nothing more than savage…brutes.

well in Halo 3 the Arbiter killed the last High Prophet, but that doesnt mean they were defeated. They were probobly left confused and unsure of what to do, but im sure in Halo 4 they will return with a new type of government or something

:’( its been my dream since Halo 2 to play as a Brute without a mod

You have a good point, plus I like fighting brutes more than elites. I love the elites, it just feels more right to headshot a brute, I don’t know why. But if I had to choose I would pick elites simply because they are in fact cool to fight and it would make the story better. But I agree with you, but make them like halo 3 and not reach, I hated the reach brutes

i liked the tactics of Reach’s brutes, but i prefered Halo 3’s looks. they were awesome

I liked that some brutes actually had shields in reach. This could mean that playable brutes could have regenerating shields in multiplayer.

i would like that. but im perfectly fine with Power Armor

Why just characters? I also miss Brute vehicles. The Chopper was my favorite vehicle in Halo 3.

i loved it too, but i feel Brutes are more important to the series. but you do have a point, Brutes + Brute vehicles and weapons, is better than Brutes + Elite vehicles and weapons + 2 Brute weapons

I would like brutes, but not without there vehicles and weapons. I don’t want to be that kid who rides a scooter because he doesn’t have a bike, metaphorically speaking.

I’m sure Brutes will make an appearance, but i highly doubt they’ll be a “main” enemy.

Glasslands shows some Elites using Brutes as bodyguards and workers, perhaps that’s how they’ll appear in Halo 4, acting as bodyguards instead of frontline soldiers like they used to be.

But also, Halo 4’s set 5 years after Glasslands (which is of course set around just after Halo 3 ended), so who knows what happens. Have to wait for The Thursday War and whatever the third book will be to see whether we’ll likely see Brutes used in that capacity…

I actually just logged to put this down as a request! Thanks dudes and dudets!! [hug]

Anywayz!! When Reach was going the Brutes didn’t much financial backing, hence the weapons they could develop where limited.

  • Spiker
  • Gravity Hammer

When Halo 3 comes round, the Prophets finance them so they have a lot more resources to develop their own weapons. Hence we had in Halo 3,

  • Fire grande,
  • Spike grande,
  • Brute Chopper,
  • Gravity Hammer, Better [faster more powerful],
  • Spikers,
  • Brute Shot,
  • Plasma pistol [red one, more powerful, but overheats quicker],
  • Maulers,

It would be sweet to play as brute in Halo 4, of course as previous posters have mentioned, they are more powerful, maybe not faster, but they can take alot of punishment, are ridiculously strong, giant rhino apes.

In the books they are a scary enemy, I was actually shaken and slightly disturbed after listening to Stomping on the Heels of a Fuss by Eric Rabb, in Halo Evolutions. Whereas in the games they are no where near as a scary.

Yeah seeing all the brute arsenal and vehicles again would be nice, But it would not make any sense considering the halo 4 story line focuses to the chief, forerunners and the ancient enemy.

Pretty sure it had nothing to do with financial backing. The Brutes only had limited weaponry because they weren’t the “commanding” (for lack of a better term) race in the military, the Elites were at that time, and the Elites only allowed the Brutes limited stuff (as you can see in Contact Harvest, the Elites barely let Brute ships be equipped with anything). When the Elites were “demoted” and their spot handed over to the Brutes, the Brutes were free to bring in their own weapons.

Prior to the changing of the guard, i’d imagine giving the Brutes freedom to use all their own weapons and the like would be on par with letting a Grunt use an Energy Sword. Apparently the Brutes and Elites had a long-standing rivalry, so that coupled with the fact they were still under the Elites meant they weren’t exactly allowed much.

(Hi yamaha!) While i agree with the post, im not sure that that would work for multiplayer… And the elites would likely be the same size as spartan IVs becasue the spartan IVs are much larger (being the same size as a spartan 2) than the Model IIIs.

Im not a fan of brutes my self, and i would never play as one (ODST ftw) but i know where your coming from. The Jerlhanie were a major part in the halo series and should be made part of Halo 4, as they were left out of reach. So if they do make it into halo 4, im just not sure about multiplayer, but it could happen… Cheers!

I don’t mind fighting and interacting with the Brutes but purely because they are one species out of many that made of the Covenant. They would always be surround or followed shortly after by a different Covenant variant and therefore there was always a change. This would be a lot different if Halo 4 featured an enemy consisting mostly of Brutes, I’d get very bored very quickly.

As for the fiction, if I’m not mistaken, the Brutes seem to be one of the last remaining Covenant species left that actually has any power of any significance to their former faction. We’ve heard that the “Covenant will be in Halo 4 but they won’t be your biggest threat”, I’m taking this with a pinch of salt, could literally be 1 or 2 missions where we see some scattered Covenant species rebel. The point is, if we do see Brutes in Halo 4 I really hope they are not the entirety of the Covenant or even functioning as their own faction.

i dont think they will be their own faction
