JIP is getting ridiculous

First off, I can see why 343i would install this system. The 1v4 matchup has been a thorn in Halos side for years.

Now that they’ve done it I find myself understanding why Bungie never did. I’ve played Majestic DLC almost all night and I bloody love it the maps are near perfect, but that’s off topic. JIP is getting ridiculous, every game I search I find myself joining a session that is currently running a game. Now this isn’t much of a problem in Team DLC I understand that, but in FFA you join games and end up 100 points behind with no chance of victory.

Please at least make it least likely 343i, you are really starting to turn this game around. Props to you

You can’t win in this situation. Put in JIP, people complain about joining in losing teams. Take it out, people complain about their players quitting. It’s pretty much a lose-lose type of thing. I just tolerate JIP and do my best to bring up the score. I’m pretty used to it anyways since I experience it a lot in other games.

I find it so much more frustrating to join a game late, and there’s always that awesome game where you go 1 v 4 and pull off an amazing win.

Would you agree that taking it out of FFA is at least reasonable?

Yeah, FFA is understandable. Taking it out in team play might be a little difficult.

My problem with JiP…

Huge waits at Score Screen while the game constantly adds and removes players. I have had a 1.15 min wait once while the game added and dropped close to 10 different people. Kills the fun for me, and it happens almost every game.

Game starts up again, and my loadout has changed, Sometimes I have even been removed from the game and added to the opposing team ( which was loosing ) while I was in a party of other players.

Then I look at Waypoint stats ( yes I know they are flawed ) and I see the sheer numbers of DNF’s in my history, all most all of which I actually did finish the game.

These are my JiP problems, I would love if they could fix it.

Look up online how to avoid JIP. Basically you know if the game you are joining is a JIP one by the way the game is setting up. There is a quick way to stop the searching and start over. I refuse to JIP to end up a -Yoink- team.

Then 343 would hopefully find the happy middleground. As in, having an option to choose whther or not you want to be able to join a game in progress or if you want to start a new game and don’t care for how long you have to wait.

And I do not understand the reasoning behind JIP in FFA games, you don’t have teammates, and some unlucky person joins and doesn’t even get to move 5 feet before the game ends.

You need JIP if your entire team rage quits from going up against a better team. I get very p*ssed off with I help out organise a 4 player team and when that annoying MLG die-hard gets killed once, he quits. Then the rest of my team think that a 3v4 won’t do them good so it isn’t worth their time, so they quit as well. JIP give the loosing team hope and brings fairness back into the equation.

I know how to leave a JIP as it’s happening, I’m just getting really bored of doing it

Matt, I can understand what you’re saying and I’ve even stated that in short in the opening post. I’ve experienced both options now and I just feel that the previous one was better. You’ve got to look at the negatives for both I’m afraid.

If it were up to me I would make Join-In-Progress optionable. Most people would probably turn it off, so I would make it to where XP bonuses would be given to players who have it finish a matchmade JIP game.

Yes, no? Bad idea?

My only issue with the JIP system is the wait it causes at the scoreboard.
Other than that i have no issues with it. It has saved me a few times. It has also elongated games of 1v4. 1v8.

JIP should NEVER be in a Free-for-all playlist. There is NO good reason I can think of to have it there, and anyone who joins late has a HUGE disadvantage, as it’s every man (or woman) for themselves.

JIP although I am not a fan is fine for team games. But for ffa type games it shouldnt be it unless its to fill the game before it has started
