The bots that ate automatically dropped in game when a teammate quits are terrible. Just had a game my team lost 50-47 because someone quit at the beginning of the game and our bot went 2-13. All my other teammates outplayed the other team but our bot ran in and died over and over. I understand filling that spot till someone can join in progress and I’m not sure if I’m alone on this but I would rather not have a bot for this exact reason. They will never be able to compete with a real person and will be canon fodder.
It’s a tough situation. I like the idea of a bot filler, but the difficulty is basically impossible to get right.
If we agree (and we don’t have to) that it’s better to have bot stand-ins, would you be more angry when a bot drags your team down, or when a bot carries the opponent? Even with the most careful tuning, one of those things is going to happen. Perhaps the current setup is the best one (assuming we want bit fill-ins at all).
the only time that a bot is a threat, is when they have a needler, otherwise they might as well just be a grunt.
Yeah I definitely don’t want the bots on the other end of it being too good. I agree that tuning is near impossible to get right thats why I’d rather not have them at all. I remember many games in older Halo’s winning with 2-3 people against a full team and it’s super satisfying.
I know Bots aren’t going anywhere but I’m just randomly brain storming here, how about this idea instead of bots:
If it is 4v4 and a player leaves one of the teams, making it 4v3. The team with 4 players keep playing until one of their players has to respawn, at which point that player will be put into ‘Time Out’ until a new player joins the other team. To make it so players aren’t feeling “punished” in the Time Out period, when one of their team mates die, they rotate into the Time Out period.
This would handicap the overpowered team and even the playing field a bit more, but it would probably piss off a lot of players who get stuck in there every other game lol
Bots need to be at Spartan level.
