Jetpack users using bumper jumper controls...

I never used bumper jumper in Halo games until Halo 4 came out, I don’t even know what made me want to switch, I guess it just makes more sense to be able to aim while jumping simultaneously…

But I’d like to start using and experimenting with the jetpack more often, and now that I’m thinking about it, with the bumper jumper layout, you need to hold X (on Xbox) to activate armor abilities. While using a jetpack, it seems like holding X and trying to aim is the same kind of hassle as frequently jumping and aiming.

So the Only reason I made this thread was to find out if there are any players that frequent using the jetpack, and also play with bumper jumper controls.

It seems like default controls would be easier for people that are jetpacking around and aiming at the same time, since you just have to hold LB.

I’ve been using Bumper Jumper since H3 as it was a advantage, but now and Reach it feels we are getting screwed. I haven’t yet, but I sense I will learn default or recon in the future.

There is also some people who can claw and still use bumper jumper while jetpacking, this just isn’t for me. You might want to check it out if you think you are up for a challenge!

I use bumper jumper ever since halo 3. the way i use armor abilities is by using the claw method. as seen in the photo. Like this

I use claw in most the first person shooter games i play. its made me such a better gamer and ive been doing it since my halo2 days.

The claw is really the only way to accomplish this on BJ. Personally I stick with thruster pack. It’s useful when trying to get out of a nade radius and fast. Haven’t even tried the jetpack yet cuz of the problems the OP pointed out.

I am using Bumper jumper and i have Jetpack in all my loadouts…

The Halo 4’s jetpack is very different from the Reach’ one, i use it commonly just to move to higer floors to gain an advantage over enemys (so i can just hold X with my thumb), i don’t usually heve to shoot when i’m using it, anyways, when i need to, i just use the “claw technic” and i shoot with my middle finger while aiming and jetpacking at the same time. It may feel weird at first but you will understand soon that these kind of situations are much less frequent than “jumping while aiming” situations.

I heard once that they were going to change the bumper jumper layout so that left trigger is the armor ability and x would be throw grenade. I would have preferred that.

I still sometimes hit A thinking it changes grenade types sigh

I don’t know how I’d feel about 'nading with X instead of the left trigger. It would take some getting used to that’s for sure.

I remember a very similar topic to this for Halo Reach, people had this issue were using the jet pack with bumper jumper wasnt exactly easy. I use bumper jumper myself and the best way to get around this issue is buying the Razer Onza controller. It has 2 extra bumpers which you can assign to any button on the controller (eg. i had my extra left bumper assigned to my X button so i could use my armour abilities with it).
