Jetpack is WRONG; see vids pics and explanation(s)

This is a post hoping to gain momentum and the notice of 343’s attention regarding the the broken AA we call jet-pack
Feel free to comment, *bump, ECT.

Also if anyone has any valid arguments as to why jet-pack IS FAIR I welcome you to prove it

-Every time you start stepping on kids in slayer the #1 thing they do is switch to jetpack

The issue is that with jet-pack it removes barriers & boundaries

-here is example: overview of map “enclosed”

please note the following from the picture above:

-posts & walls DESIGNED for cover
-lifts DESIGNED to assits in movemnt in map
-ramps DESIGNED to be walked over, not flew past

Jet-pack ruins all of these, and in essence cheapens the hard work and subtleties that the map developers put into play

*0:16-0:22 right off the bat we can see the jet-packer getting height advantage and take note that he flies right over a nade that would have hit him

*0:32-0:41the jetpack has far too much “juice” note the player is able to fly above everyone else avoiding ground combat, spam chase another flying guy, but most importantly note how he is able to move from one side of the map to the other without taking the grenade launcher spawn route.

*0:42-0:49 prime example of broken jetpack: he FLIES over a player, note that the jetpack maintains sight of the player at all times, but the person on the ground is forced to look up, spin, turn around, and try to find the arial assailant.

*1:38-1:43 skips an entire floor, is in sky thus positioned for an easy AR kill

*2:16 note how quickly and how fast he is able to gain altitude to the point of where he is in a kill zone

*2:40-2:51 just watch this part; look how he is able to maneuver, chuck nades from the sky, and win

*3:55-4:03 watch where he spawns and how quickly he is able to follow a ground player and spam them from the sky. where can that player hide? there is no cover because the jet pack is hovering above them


there are other questionable moments however these are just a few that I noted after skimming through the video.

You know whats scary? that was ONE GAME and the player wasn’t even very good. That happens over and over again, and its not fun, or fair.

While I realize that my issues only give mention to one map, we can all agree that almost every map with the exception of indoor maps i.e. countdown give jetpack an unfair advantage.

take a look at the overhead view, you see that giant circular structure in the middle? thats called a barrier.
jet-packers fly right over it.

BROKEN

Actually, Putting the Gravity to 200% is a pretty much perfect nerf for the Jetpack, it makes flight time alot shorter, and it’s nerfs the total height gain that Jet pack offers without making Jet pack totally useless.

I’ve been toying around with these settings for Zero Bloom for a while and I managed to get 5 loadout’s in because of the jet pack nerf but I was playing on 120% movement speed and 125% jump height too. ( Plus Jet pack was tested on Sword base probably the most Jet pack-breaking map ).

the jetback isn’t the broken AA all AAs are broken

All stupid AAs are broken, just add 200% gravity and you won’t be able to fly as high, because right now It’s just ridiculous how high you can fly to spam grenades or you DMR and get cheap kills.

There is nothing wrong with any one AA. The problem is that Bungie and 343i use one universal gametype for all maps instead of a specific gametype catered to each map. Also, maps are a problem. They are not made properly to take jetpacks into consideration. Most maps could probably be fixed by simply putting in a soft and hard kill ceiling and limiting jetpack’s use and where they can go.

That’s on example how easy jet pack is to take care of.

I don’t care about a single video you post where you are able to kill a garbage random who jetpacks.

I’m talking about tryhard who abuse it for broken sniping, team shots, and spawn trapping/spawn breaking.
Jet-pack caused unnatural movement and messes with the natural flow of the game

I agree with you that the jet pack is unfair, but only on specific maps. As you’ve shown here, enclosed just doesn’t work with the jet pack, as for other levels such as reflection (ill explain why this specific map is broken in a min). On boardwalk its useless (for the most part), same with zealot, pinnacle and possibly a few others. Where the jet pack actually has functionality is on rather tight maps with many levels (floors). This includes sword base, cage and countdown. That’s it. As for reflection, jet pack gives one of the teams (i forget which one) with rocket side spawn a huge advantage. Right off the start of the game, all someone has to do is grab rockets, jet pack to sniper spawn and get the easy kills.

Mind you, jet packs are not always cheap, in many cases they are easy flying targets. Either way, they only play well on the 3 maps i mentioned above.

Another thing that i noticed is when players are using the jet pack, the game starts giving you unsafe spawns. I’m guessing this is because the game has a difficult time recognizing which spawns are safe and unsafe due to all these flying jet packers. I’ve noticed this on uncaged at the sniper pick up zone. If your fighting someone that’s on top of lift platform, often times the enemy will spawn at the tower to the left of you and just close you in, leaving you no where to run.
