So i just watched this video to look at the jetpack in action and to me it seems like it makes a short Thrust upwards and glides down slowly, i think the jetpack is finally balanced.(well atleast alot more balanced than before)
For the millionth time: It’s not about balance! It’s about map design. This is why Jetpack should not be in Halo4 MM.
looks like its more akin to horizontal movement than the reach vertical movement but how many maps have we seen that could at all utilize that horizontal movement?
Well when you compare it to the thruster pack, which gives you a few feet of horizontal movement in a single burst and can’t shoot, and then you look at the jetpack which gives you 3 seconds of height advantage AND you can shoot?
Not balanced IMO… just take the jetpack out…

I think 343 understands that, it doesn’t have nearly as much thrust as it used to. They basically degraded it to a Jump Pack, I don’t see anyone hovering with it.
You can’t balance the jet pack, it’s either gonna be map breaking one way, or useless another. Just scrap it. Either way I’m sticking to classic playlist.

It has nothing to do with hovering either!
Does the jetpack still allow players to bi-pass sections of the map like walls and cover? Does the jetpack still allow players to reach and abuse soft kill boundaries? These things cannot be balanced! Hence it needs to be scrapped in the multiplayer.
EDIT: Basically what the above post says
My favourite AA made useless. :C Jumping + in air thrustering will allow for better map survival and area climbing, plus the other defensive benefits.
Now I can no longer soar high in the sky and descend upon the enemy whilst yelling ‘’ STRIEK FROM TEH SKY, BATTLEBROTHARZ! ‘’ ;C

Have you seen ANYONE use the Jetpack on anything other then Haven? Have you seen it on any map that doesnt involve someone using it to launch themselves off the Grav Lift? Clearly if you’ve seen the Jetpack on any other map other then Haven, I want a link. If not then quit making accusations based on one -Yoinking!- video… We haven’t seen ANY MORE FOOTAGE other then Nexy’s and he only used the Jetpack for not even a minute.

You touched on only a few points of why the jetpack is dumb

It’s about both. Think of the number of ways you could exploit Haven with a jetpack by cutting between levels. The answer is three, and they’re all within a second or two’s walk from a ramp. Map designers CAN account for Halo 4’s jetpack in ways that they couldn’t account for Reach’s.

Actually by the sounds of it, no. From what I’ve seen it’s like a double jump, if that. Breaking maps is not going to happen.

map design plays a big part in balancing the jetpack, as well as tweaking the AA itself. I get frustrated as hell at jetpackers, but I don’t think it should be out of MM.

One of the many reasons why Haven is looking like a well designed map but answer me this: If the Jetpack is useless on maps like Haven then why include it in MM at all?

That’s what I’ve been trying to say, in the video the OP linked, Nexy launched himself off the Grav Lift and it’s the only reason as to why he was hovering for a few seconds. Without Grav Lifts, I don’t see any Hovering in the air happening.

It’s okay. I can still kill you as you fly with the swift fury and justice of the pink mist.
Blamite FTW.

Even a double jump jetpack would still ruin previously great maps like Reflection.

yes they can be balanced, that’s exploits in the map. exploits that 343 can mash out with their big toe in halo 4.
Will you people get it through your head the jetpack will never work in matchmaking and 343 should not have to design every map so one stupid AA can be in. Jetpack can never be balanced unless you can’t shoot, you can’t hover, and if shot you fall to your death. When someone jetpacks he gets a height advantage over the enemy so now he can’t be hit by grenades, CQ weapons, explosive weapons, and melee and that destroys the golden triangle so that’s why it can’t be matchmaking end of ****ing story. So grow up and stop complaining about not being able to fly around the map, if you want to you can always go back and play Reach.
If jetpack does stay Halo 4 WILL fail because I already know it would be the ultimate AA just like it is in Reach.

A double jump though wouldn’t be able get you to the top floor of Reflection though from the ground floor. It wouldn’t have enough thrust. Maybe to thrust you up one or two levels. You can’t fly up to the top of the elevator with Halo 4’s Jetpack like you could with Reach’s.
