Jet pack

With reach on the way to MCC I got to thinking about how the jet pack could return and be a bit more “balanced”. I was thinking IF they brought it back for Halo Infinite it could be used as a power up, similar to the overshield or active camo, and have it so once it runs out it doesnt recharge, along with keeping its charge small, maybe allowing you to get from the bottom of BR tower on lockout to the top with it being depleted at that point.
Anyone else think the jet pack could work at all in competitive without breaking the game?

No chance that jet pack can work in competitive, but it would be super fun for customs. I miss all of the fun obstacle courses from Reach or playing jet pack Grifball. Some creative game modes could be made with jet pack and the latest forge.

Should the current set of armor abilities carry over to H6, jet pack could easily be swapped for thrusters in the custom game options.

Ah, the jetpack. I almost miss it. It did provide a lot of fun in customs, as mentioned in the last response. But I would have to agree that it can’t really work in a balanced competitive metagame. I don’t see them devoting the dev resources to reintroducing this since they’ve moved away from AA’s being individualized pickups towards having universal Spartan Ability player traits. I definitely can’t see justifying adding jetpacks to everyone’s enhanced mobility pool constantly.

Maybe having it as a placable object in Forge and having a brief section in the campaign where you can use it is the happy balance, here. But again, I just don’t see the development resources going that way for that sort of payoff.

For me, the jet pack should behave exactly as it did in the original, though it doesn’t have to be put in competitive modes.

I can see the jet pack returning, but definitely not in competitive matchmaking. It’d be fun to use in social/customs, though!
