One thing I have never figured out and that is why the hell does the jet pack only fire vertically.
I mean, why not allow you to lean forward and go forward instead of having to sprint and then use the jet pack. Most jet packs have thrust vectoring in fact. I would rather use to jump gaps than go miles into the air.
One funny thing is occasionally I find my Halo 4 jet pack going nuts… I even flew out of the map the one time when the -Yoink!- thing wouldn’t cut out. Other times the jet pack is firing but I just hover at about 2ft above the ground.
Instead of making the thruster pack a separate armor ability from the jet pack they should have given the option of using the Jet Pack to either thrust forward or vertical rather than only vertical.
One thing I do is use man cannons and just float for a bit and then start using the jet pack when I start getting close to the ground. It will propel you forward when you do that. That’s about the only way you can thrust forward with the jet pack.
Yeah, the man cannons launch you across the map with jet pack (good for ctf).
But it’s more of a jump pack than jetpack. Aside from the misleading name, I have no complaints.
I’m now wondering if I slipped into a man cannon field when the jet pack launched me out of the map. Might have given me that extra bit of a boost. Wasn’t half a jaw dropper (should have recorded it lol).

And then people would complain that the JP is overpowered. Honestly, it shouldn’t have this feature. It already grants a vertical advantage. A horizontal boost akin to the Thruster would be too much.

Thanks for sharing your opinion but I disagree with it. I don’t think it would be a big deal if it had the same amount of thrust as the thruster pack currently has (it’s not really that much).
With the nerf the jetpack is still severely OP. It still has the problems it had in Reach. I hope it’s gone in Halo 5.
