Is this true the guy who worked on Metriod prime? I heard this somewhere but I dont know where but if this is true it could explian the grunts’ and Elites’ freaky looks.
Why would the level designer have anything to do with the looks of Elites and Grunts?

Wrong job, bro.
In a recent video interview frankie said he had guys from infinity ward, guys from metroid and a couple other popular franchises.
Metroid prime is my favourite gaming series simply because of the levels and exploration. Knowing that he IS on the team raises my campaign expectations to uncountable figures.
PS: Phendrara F***ing drifts. There better be a beautiful snowy mountain level in this game…

Except that the design of characters is decided before they start getting modeled, in the concept art stage, so that the 3D artists don’t need to spend a huge amount of wasted time creating multiple possible models. Doing so would also waste the time of the texturing people, who would have to make textures, bump maps, etc. for each character.
And that’s all a part of the art design, which is unrelated to level design (which is about the gameplay aspect of the level, not the looks).
