Jackels shields

Why don’t jackels shields work the way they used to?

I remember the shields would go orange or blue depending whether it was taking ballistics or energy. It would go blue if shot with energy and orange if it was hit with ballistics. Kind of like charging the shield up till it over loads.

Why was that mechanic removed? I thought it made them more of an interesting enemy.

I also think it would make an interesting req with the old mechanic with reload reseting the shield to In between the two. One with a plasma pistol as a supportive req and one with a needler as an offensive req. or even a pistol

they also dont just deactivate when jackals die, i honestly dont see why this is not the case. In fact, having shieldless jackal bodies shud reduce memory cost yes??

I though they disappear after a while.

Honestly I never took the time to notice this. I guess I was too busy trying to stay alive to see it.

I’m not sure but I think I noticed it on ODST cause when I completed it on legendary I used nothing but plasma pistol and a pistol cause it felt like the easiest way to do it.

yea the bodies do, i meant having shieldless bodies for the duration of their existence shud make things easier on the system yea? while looking more appropriate

Don’t know if you kill a jackle and didn’t destroy the shield it wouldn’t have a reason to deactivate like the sword doesn’t deactivate when a sword carrier is killed but it would be interesting if a sword is deactivated when dropped it stays deactivated and isn’t as noticeable

I think the point defense gauntlets usually do go out, though the game does lag sometimes and they don’t deactivate upon death.

I’ve been thinking about this too. Not a fan of the new Jackal shields.

The new jackals seem far more difficult to stifle.
Back in Halos 1-4, you could shoot their wrists easily.
Now, in 5, you have a better chance of aiming at their feet.

Agreed. It seems like a real pain to hit the “stick out” points on Jackals now. Usually end up putting two or three shots into the shield before they jerk back.
