While looking over some old E3 2015 Warzone footage, I noticed something strange… This video (1:34 mark) shows a Jackal evading a grenade while exclaiming “Grenade!! Ahh”
While we knew Jackals would get human voices before, I think it is better knowing how they sound. I personally like the raspy and inhuman tone. If a bird/crocodile hybrid could talk, this is what the bugger would sound like lol!
Ehhhh I don’t particularly like it. They don’t sound bad, but I prefer their awkward squawking sounds. I always ignored the bits where Jackals would speak in comics and books, because it just never really felt very…them.
… Cake… Eat it and have it too?
You see… It’s not exactly cohesive to demand all Covenant speak English… But the Jackals remain speaking backwards English, just because it’s always been that way.
BECAUSE only Grunts spoke English in CE!!!
Now of course I expect to hear Jackal noises, but if they speak English because translators and space magic allow the other races to speak English (Sangheili physically cannot make our communication noises, yet do!!!), then I’m not upset.
I loved the xeno-linguistics of the game more than the English parts (HATE the way H2 Elites speak).
The UNSC’s translating tech has worked on them for years in the novels they communicate with humans perfectly fine. It’s about time we see this translation in game.
I really just prefer Grunts, Elites and Brutes speaking English. Reptilian Jackals shouldn’t be speaking it, and bloody hell I hope the Hunters don’t speak it either. Same goes with the Drones if they’re in the game.
So seems like people dislike jackals speaking only because they did not before? You will get used to it. I promise. I love how covenant speaks english again and it will be interesting to hear what jackals have to say.

And you Sir seem to not have read the forum guidelines. Double- or even triple posting (as you did) is not allowed. Seems a bit like post count farming, since you could have included multiple quotes in your post.
On topic: No matter what they speak, they will end up running away and screaming: “All hail the conquering DMR.”
