In every halo the standard tactic to take out a jackal is to shoot its hand which sticks out the shield then when it flinches you get a quick headshot. In every halo it has been consistent and easy (even in halo 4). However in halo 5 jackals hands are for some reason far more difficult to reach with your gun. Hell, I’ve recorded a few clips where i shot the jackals hand perfectly and it didn’t even flinch. They should really fix this, it is incredibly frustrating to get killed by a jackal because he refused to flinch when hit.
Their crazy damage output and accuracy on top of that doesn’t help…
I’ve noticed this as well, and it reminded me of Halo CE. As in Halo CE the Kig-Yar didn’t flinch the way we all have come to know they do. Which in CE Kig-Yar were a lot more difficult to handle compared to the Unggoy. Which in later titles the Kig-Yar gained that flinch animation which dropped their difficulty level some. Personally if the flinch came back I would be pleased, as I have just been used to the flinch for a long duration of time. Plus with accuracy based weapons which were added in Halo 2, a flinch animation makes sense. Compared to the mostly automatic weapons as seen in Halo CE.

Have you seen ce jackles? It was almost impossible to shoot the hand that stuck out.

Did you even play CE? No matter the difficulty, they always rolled out the way whenever an object of any kind came towards them, making it easy to kill them
I agree that Jackals are harder to kill, but so is every other AI unit in this game. Frankly the Jackals not “flinching” as easily is one of the smallest of many MANY imbalances in this game, particularly in Warzone Firefight. It’s so frustrating because Firefight was my favorite part of Halo Reach, and 343 nixed it for Halo 4, and now they brought it back with good ideas, just absolutely awful execution.
I feel like I’m wasting my grenades on all the stupid jackals but it’s just so much more effective than trying to BR or Magnum them.

Well in CE grenades were far more deadly, one grenade could take out a whole room so i never felt the need to use the standard jackal tactic.

They didn’t bring back anything. This is just Warzone PvE. People wanted this more than Firefight. It is called Warzone Firefight because … well you think of something better than Warzone shoot-some-aliens!
Also, Jackals when they talk, they sound like they are on drugs.

That’s because they’re -Yoinking!- lit m8

I know they didn’t “bring it back”, poor choice of words I guess. I was just hoping for an evolution of Firefight, obviously not a cut and paste. The concepts to add on to what was firefight with this PvE warzone is great, it’s just horribly unbalanced. I feel like they didn’t even try.

Only with grenades, not when you have a magnum and your trying to shoot the hand.
Jackals should receive a nerf. Their damage and accuracy is insane. 4 plasma pea shots and your dead. Their armor is just too much.
Honestly most enemies in Halo 5 are crazy over the top, especially prometheans, which are just the epitome of unbalanced AI. But Jackals? oh boy they take the cake. Way too much shield strength of those little s****. You can’t even pop their shields with a plasma pistol anymore, ridiculous.

True. I was talking to one of my friends about it and his response was: “Yeah, they finally learned how to hold their shields right”.
Can’t blame the jackals for not dying…

Yeah, sounds like they have throat cancer.
“Human die. Very good”
Makes me cringe so hard lol
A little type that might help is shooting their feet rather than their hand. I find it an easier shot to land to cause them to stumble, allowing you to land the head shot.
And regarding the Jackals’ voice. To be fair, they have different vocal cords and spectrum than humans do.
They do flinch, they just aren’t as exposed in halo 5.
It takes more than one hit.
2 to the hand, and one over the shield.

Yeah but the beam rifle jackals are also annoying too. But I have thrown grenades behind them and they didn’t die too.
