Cool effect for ambience. Halo 2 had a map (in the map pack disc) that had fog, but players tended to hate on it, and it was scrapped from mm on the 360 because the backwards compatibility couldn’t render it properly (and I can’t seem to find it on the mcc…). Forgot the name of the map though.

Your thinking of Backwash. I never really liked that map myself.

Personally I didn’t care for it either (fun for shotty/swords at some of our Lan parties back in the day though). People tend to really enjoy maps from the past, and others loathe some, all for preference. Ex. My team in CE wrecked Koth on. Hiron, but the competitive community hated that map. Whereas I think some of the H2 remakes were poorly chosen maps (Sanctuary was fun, but why do peple love cicircle maps like that, Wizard/Warlock so much?). Mid ship was good, but vertical maps have been more enjoyable to me (Lockout and prisoner/boarding action fan here). Maybe theemotes of fun on these maps is what I miss - symmetrical maps have a place, but stuff like Zanzibar were just a joy for variety.
If that video is any indication, at least theoretically speaking, forge should make for some quality maps in H5. Hopefully some good custom and objective game options (wonder how boost will affect ctf?). Time of day will be nice, but probably not well received for all options if there are too few (orion sun)
Fog sucks in a game in most cases; unless is just a ground fog ankle high, I don’t want it.
Weather patterns would be an awesome forge feature
What about the mist/fog on the new forge map? Over in the flat corner that you can see the sniper from.

Backwash
I remember that one day my clam and I had to come up with a really bad gametype for gits and shiggles.
Invisible snipers no radar on that map won out. We didnt do a lot of sniping thats for sure. xD
It would be cool to play on outdoor maps that had dynamic time, weather, and season. Imagine playing on blood gulch, but a spring morning with drizzle and light fog. Imagine it in a middle of a night during a thunder storm. Or during winter.
Its the same map… and yet could produce totally different feelings, experiences, and memories.
