I have tried 3 different video guides, I have tried the 7 checkpoints, I have tried clearing the level of all enemies, I have tried getting the checkpoint outside the skull room door, I’ve tried getting to the skull room within 17 seconds of the “Get on that bird” announcement, I’ve tried picking it up even if I can’t see it, I’ve tried restarting the level and all combinations of the above at least 30 times now and have wasted over 3 hours of my life.
Well when I got it, I did the 7 checkpoints and then when your at the 7th checkpoint there is a jackal sniper that spawns somewhere on or in between the building tops. You just have to look for him. I thought this had to be done without dying, but that’s not the case, I died 1 time looking for the jackal as he ninja sniped me. After I found, slaughtered and T-BAGGED him I went for the skull room and it was there. Normally he should spawn next the building after the 5th or 6th checkpoint but sometimes he is somewhere else around the skull building.
You are doing this on Legendary?- What videos have you used as guides? (just so we know what you are calling the 7th CP, cause some videos are wrong on whtat the 7th CP is)- Have you tried changing back and forth to old and new graphics? (A friend told me he tried that and it worked for him, but didnt work for me)
That’s a good guide to follow. some of the other guides were counting the the first scene as a CP. i kinda want to test that out and see if it shows up 100% of the time now.

I’m definately doing this on Legendary. Tried it over and over again with Scarab and Envy skulls, and without any skulls. Nothing is working for me.
I also tried making sure I walk all around the roof ledge on the entrance to sniper alley, as some say that triggers it. I noticed this does trigger the “get on that bird” announcement.
I have not tried switching between classic and anniversary graphics.
On some of my tries (maybe 4-5 of them) I was killing all the snipers and jackels that were on the way to the skull room.

Be sure to check all the areas by skull room some snipers spawn in odd places.
Ok. So no matter how well I follow that video guide, there is only a 1 in 7 chance of it spawning? I am sure I’ve done it 10+ times.

You must be doing something wrong then I’ve done it 4 times in a row now and it’s shown up every time. Are you hitting all 7 unique checkpoints? What skulls do you have on?

I am counting out all the checkpoints with the video. I have done it on legendary with the scarab and envy skulls on. I have also done it on legendary with no skulls on. I have done it on normal with skulls and no skulls.
Just to be 100%. If I keep doing it on legendary with the scarab and envy skulls I will get it eventually?
Don’t make these mistakes when doing your speed runs, I know it sounds silly but make sure you are in the correct room and not the one with a large box inside (when you come of the red tiled roof the room is on the left and not in front of you), The skull can take a few seconds to spawn so wait a few seconds in the room before retrying (crucial),
you do not need numerous check points, you only need to hear the sniper alley music ( and the “sergeant I need you on that bird” cue), you shouldn’t be using a gun at all, if your having issues with crouch jumps use universal green button (i think that was the name) controls for the jumping and a grenade for that jump from bridge to building, not sure about posting vids here but korbeck has the correct path in one of his halo 2 skull vids on you tube, phew
Pro tip: keep the checkpoint when you land on the broken bridge so you can abuse the checkpoint and keep hitting that random code spawn ledge at the sniper ally (aka dont look at dead guy). Got it on my 7th try. (Odd) And got a checkpoint just as I entered (dunno if it was a sign) when the skull spawned.
I had to hit all 7 checkpoints because when I got to the room it wasn’t there. As soon as the 7th checkpoint came up the skull spawned. Oh and it took me about 5 attempts to get it; not including the runs where I got killed by a Jackal sniper lol
If the short sequence isn’t working for you, try the original long sequence. I was having the same problem. it’s tedious, but the long sequence worked for me.
