I tried searching around for any answers about this, but came up blank, so I thought I may as well ask this here;
Has anyone noticed if the IWHBYD skull has any significant effect on the dialogue in Halo 4’s campaign/SpOps missions?
I’ve played all the way through SpOps and have completed the campaign about 5/6 times - but, unlike previous Halo games, cannot remember hearing a single wise-crack or funny reaction by any of the AI NPCs, be it Covenant, UNSC or Forerunner.
This is probably due to the distinct lack of friendly AI in most of the campaign levels, but the chances are I’d have heard at least something by now, at least on Infinity or Reclaimer.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Too bad it wasn’t like Halo 2s IWHBYD Skull, fighting the Ultras with Uber Snipes and Swords
Not really funny, but I heard a Marine say on Composer ‘Hey, remeber me? We fought together in Voi?’ I haven’t heard that without the IWHBYD skull on.

Amen. I miss having to hunt for the skulls, but that battle in particular was so rewarding to beat.
As far as I can tell, there isn’t much effect. There’s hardly any friendly AI, and the Covenant don’t speak English. I miss Halo 3’s IWHBYD!

“please enjoy my BRIGHT. BLUE. BALLS!”

hey! i’ve heard that too, but i wasn’t too sure on what her said!
Halo 3 definitely has the best IWHBYD skull effect.
What about that Conan dialouge exhcange?
Is that with IWHBYD or what?
the conan and andy thing happens either way.
i always use IWHBYD, but all it really seems to do is make npc’s seem to be a bit angry with you and tell you to watch your step and similar things. i’ve never heard anything epicly random like in the other titles.
gotta miss the weird conversations that the grunts used to have, too.
I heard one at the start of the level Reclaimer. “What’s up Chief?” and another at Infinity “Kick(a)ss time!”. That’s all. Probably I do not recognize them, because English is a foreign language for me.
IWHBYD doesn’t really have that much of an effect in Halo 4.
Funny is gone, all that’s left is canon references.
I heard a Spartan IV mention Linda on Infinity, at the part with the Hunters.
I’ve been trying to get Spartans and Marines to talk, but nothing great so far. Mostly canonical references, nothing funny or whacky like in Halo 3.
Spartan IV’s on Infinity have: mentioned Linda being a beast with a Sniper rifle, Master Chief fighting with them on Green Hills as an ODST, telling Chief he’s been listed KIA & ONI will be surprised, and kindly asking Chief to back up or not shoot them.
I heard another line referencing a member of Blue team, Kelly.
“Any word from 087? Could’ve really used her speed back there”
I’ll add more as I hear anything.
“Spartan IV’s operate under Orion protocols, we’re legal. You however are something entirely different.”
Well, that just got downright rude.

Alas, a great part of IWHBYD has been severed!

Even in gameplay, the indiscretion towards Chief is apparent.
I remember an elite once tempting me to come out of cover because he had a banana.
that only happened once in halo 2, never again have I heard anything that comes close to how awesome I found that.
I think it would’ve been a good balance, though undeniably a lot of more work, to have the covenant speak english with the skull on.
