everyone seems to always compare any other halo game too halo 1. Also everyone seems to always be let down! I think I’ve noticed somthing that might be slipping through the cracks… At its core halo is a … Sci- fy. Halo 1 had a vary DARK tone to it simular too a lot of the fps out at that time… Doom, hectic ,duke nukem. So basicly looking throught things like multiplayer maps specifically… If you wanna capture the feel of halo 1 as a game designer I would suggest making the maps with a little more adult and dark type of style!!! You know cause that’s what people want… A dark sci-fy shooter with good gameplay!!! You know add some more cool sound effects, darker maps. I’m not saying that there isn’t any dark maps at all… I’m just saying it should feel like 85% not 9%
It has gotten more shiny, especially the robot style spartan armor.
I feel like the issue isn’t exactly the lighting in the maps but instead the content and objective in the map layout. Halo 1 you went through doors and corridors and huge open spaces without really having a clue of what to find next. Now everything seems so open and linear it doesn’t really make anything as suspenseful. Also actually the lighting needs to vary in locations instead of being contingent through the whole level. Like almost all Halo 5 maps. But I can see your point about maps needing to be darker. It can make a glow of mystery if used correctly. But there needs to be room for mystery to happen and that in itself needs to flow from the map design, including lighting. But the map overall being dark just wont do it.

Hey justify clarify guys when I said dark I didn’t mean like… Dark in color… I ment dark as in spookie, or sci- fy . Like creepy or scary!!!
