I've lost every single BTB and ranked match I've played

What the -Yoink!- is wrong with the match making in this game, that statistically doesn’t make any -Yoink!- sense.

Edit: By the way I’ve twice spawned in the field of vision of another player and immediately gotten lit up.

Sounds like you need to get better at the game, bad spawns happen esp in the social play list.

I mean…statistically speaking…I’m not sure you can put this one on the game if you’ve lost every single match

I have a 68% win rate in MCC.

Good thing this isn’t MCC then, probably should do some bot matches and get comfortable with aiming.

It’s a team game with random matchmaking, it statistically doesn’t make any sense. You’re dodging the core of the issue.

Yeah I’m sorry, but there is no way this is a game issue. If you are losing that often, it would decrease your Social MMR, and try and place you with people at either a similar skill level or with people with even lower MMR. If you’re still losing at that point, I would suggest playing with Bots, Training Mode, and adjusting your settings till you are comfortable with the new mechanics. I’m not saying get good, since if you’re winning 68% of the time in Halo, you are probably just not as comfortable with Halo Infinite as you are with Legacy Halo Titles. Also remember that MMR is not SBMM or CSR, and has no relation or correlation to your Xbox LIVE based TRUESKILL ranking.

Even Counter Strike isn’t this bad with randoms.

Sounds like just bad luck. Matchmaking hasn’t put you on its yoink list, I’m sure. Git gud is not really a valid argument for btb since you are such a small percentage of the team.
I’m not sure, but I think I’ve won almost every ranked match. I assumed it was because we’re in the early stages of establishing everyone’s rank and there are a lot of new folks that are more accustomed to other games/play styles.

I feel breaking down the way MM works in Halo Infinite might help you understand what I am saying.

  • Social Matchmaking
MMR(Matchmaking Rating) This is not based on TrueSkill2 and effectively just scores you on your performance. Matchmaking since Halo 2 strives to place you in matches with similarly skilled individuals (This isn’t liked ranked where they are very close, imagine on 1-50 that you are rank 25, instead of searching within 10 ranks, it searches within 25. So if you’re an average player, you will play with people who are much worse, and people who are much better, as well as everyone in between.) The game will try to make it as fair as possible and as balanced as possible. Your MMR is always changing, but not as radically as say a TrueSkill Rank.

  • Ranked Matchmaking
Ranked Matchmaking uses CSR (Competitive Skill Rank) to place you with players as close to your skill level as possible, this rank uses TrueSkill2 to determine that score, and can be tracked fairly easily, and the algorithm has been published by Microsoft in the past. This will place you in matches with some people over or under your skill level but will mostly put you with people at your skill level. This is why these matches seem the most challenging, as rarely will you get place with an entire lobby with player over your skill level or CSR.

If you are having issues in Social, the system is not failing you, as your MMR is decreasing, and you will be finding players closer to the bottom of the MMR pool as well as players towards the average range. This is so that you start performing better and can play in a setting more fit for your skill level ( IF skill was the problem)

Again I don’t think you are having a skill issue, I truly think that you are not comfortable with the game and the sandbox yet, and would benefit from some practice in Training or Bot Modes. CSGO matchmaking is a whole different ball park that I can break down for you, but I’d rather not, as Casual Matchmaking is pretty random, and Competitive Games are intended to be very balanced but the MASSIVE smurf problem in that game hinders the Rank System.

EDIT: I also wanted to add that for Placement Matches in Halo Infinite your personal performance has much more weight than team performance. After that TrueSkill is going to take into account your team performance(I can break down that system in more detail should anyone want that information) I honestly imagine that MMR is the same way.

I hope I don’t end up on your team, what are you doing every game lol.

Ranked, I won all 10 of my placement games. Sounds like it’s a problem with the gamer, not the game.

Keep playing it will surely even out if you are an average player.

Oh boy, people are sure gonna say “get good” now.

I don’t know what’s wrong with this game, I just finished placement and got Platinum 6? After winning 2/10, and one of those wins was only because a guy had 3 of his team mates leave in CTF.

Yea pretty sure ranked is broken right now. Haven’t seen anyone below platinum.

Also took a look at your Stats, and you are an average player, with a higher than average W/L Ratio and KDR. So I imagine you would have placed well in Ranked, yes.

Sounds like you need to get better at understanding feedback. Spawn killing is bad game design…not player error. Makes you sound like you have a poor understanding of how games work. :-1:

So yes, people are getting higher than average ranks due to high personal performance, the system gets much more aggressive once you have placed, and I can break that down should this thread want it broken down, however duh to the current lack of reading being done here, I doubt that is the case, and you will boil it down the game “not working”.

It has happened in every game for halo and other major FPS titles. Don’t try so hard.
