I've had it!

This game needs a patch ASAP. And not this current patch which doesn’t touch 1 thing related to units.

  1. Sentinals, absolute joke. Most OP unit in the game. Move faster than any troops and do insane amounts of damage. For example, last night me and my friend are attacking opponents base. This guy flies his 20 or 30 sentinals to our bases and destroys them within 10 seconds. 4 bases total get crushed in under a minute. Anti air turrets did nothing. AND, my banshees are so slow it takes them forever to get back. And sentinals just fly away when attacked. Anti air? Reavers move at a snails pace. Sentinals can out run every unit. Just fly in, do damage, fly away and get repaired. Absolute joke.

  2. Marines, ridiculous. I built anti infantry and marauders which are green vs infantry. Absolutely destroyed within second by grunts 6 minutes in. There is absolutely no reason that base level units should be strong. They are cheap for a reason. They should be for scouting and last ditch efforts. Not 2 teams send in 40 Marines and they demolish someone who actually built real units, planes, tanks, anti infantry. And all you build is bum Marines because you can produce them from mini bases and main bases. Not to mention Marines slaughter grunts.

Until these 2 units are patched, I refuse to play this game anymore. It’s a rush game now and it’s about whoever can build as many troops faster. Doesn’t matter if it’s base unit losers. You attack my base with 20 Marines vs 20 anti infantry, my snipers lose every time. Planes destroyed instantly. Tanks obliterated. And anders is the biggest noob and loser character in the game. But no, instead we will get a patch which doesn’t do 1 thing to address balancing issues. Game is completely not fun.

Not to mention, Marines wreck grunts. Marine upgrades are actually good. Grunts get 2 upgrades, mines with you have to press Y for and they basically do nothing and adding a brute to the pack, wow. Human troops are just so OP.

Grunt rush actually wrecks people, as far as why grunts can take out “actual units” is because they after outnumber them army size wise, as in population. There is even a note the plays at the bottom of loading screens “the bigger army often wins.” You want to know what the enemy is doing, send one single scout early, if you see a ton of resource buildings and nothing else chances are it’s to full a rush. It’s not unbeatable either, have had one enemy team today actually push me back, although that game did devolve into ultimate units fighting it out. They could have finished me a few times I think had they pushed to my base after fending me off but instead just let me retreat each time.

On the flip side I had another team fail so badly against it the game was over at 10:26, hadn’t even unlocked the last set of leader powers yet. One guy had just started building his second base when my 80 pop grunts with a warlord rolled up on it. Heven also was trying to rush a Condor out of his main base instead of building an army. The Condor came out and was quickly brought down due to being horribly outnumbered by a soft counter.

If you banished you could always try to counter by hitting t3 asap and build a cloak for yourent base, Grunt and marine spam can’t detect it, buying you time while we have to make and send in some detect units

It sounds like you are trying to build high-level units too fast.

The most common strategies in the game are infantry rushes (which are a pre-game strat), and Ultimate rushes (a “mid-game” strat). The problem with them is that if they dont work out perfectly, you loose.

You are aiming for a mid-game strat, but you are getting destroyed by fast rushes. The reason? you ignore the good uses of infantry.

Just because you want a NON-INFANTRY strategy, doesnt mean you shouldnt use them. Start the game by using small infantry squads to gather resources, Power towers, mini-bases, AND go for map-control. All of that will lead you to having a better mid-game.

If you use the infantry to gain some (NOT TOO MUCH) map-control, you get a lot of advantages

Situation 1: A unit in a garrison mid-map will spot a rush, and you can then use a leader ability to destroy them before they even GET to your bases.

Situation 2: The opponent tries to get map control also, and you and them will spend some time fighting over bases, which will give you a taste of how they play, and the units they use.

Situation 3: They dont do anything, and you use a mid-map base to build scouts to scout their home-bases.

In ALL situations, taking some map control will give you TONS OF POWER, which you should then spend on upgrading bases (The upgrade that increases turret damage and health.)

So in summary, If you use the infantry to get map-control and supplies pre-game, you will get the resources, and information necessary to react to ANY rushes. If your opponent tries a rush, and it fails, you are then free to go take some more bases on THEIR side with your infantry, which will lead to an EZ win. If they DONT rush you, you set yourself up to get information, and react with the appropriate units.

A lot of people are having issues running the game. That is what the patches are working on. They are probably working on balancing but it is not going to be something that happens overnight.

Balance takes time. Would you really want a balance update after a few days of release? Then we would just be complaining things were nerfed into the ground and need even more patches.

Give it a bit.

Please don’t work on balancing game right now. Just make it work for PC first plz

I wish grunts would get their plasma grenade back. Or a fuel rod or something. Mines are one of if not the worst ability in the game.

I keep reading, get to tech 3. Tech 3 costs 1500. Tech 2 costs 1000 power. The time it takes to get to tech 3 is long, especially for banished. My initial base I have 3 harvesters and 2 generators. I upgrade none of them because I need 1000 power to get to tech 2. I may have bought a mini base by now because I’m sitting on a lot of blue resources. Once I get tech 2, my 2 new pads are usually apex or some building unit. 1 building does the upgrades, the other does the troops.

I scout constantly, usually around the 2:30 mark. Even if I scout and see 400 Marines, I cannot build anything to deal with a 2v1 attack. Heck even 1v1. Grunts will get destroyed. Snipers cost blue and yellow resources. Banished snipers are not good at all. Choppers cost 270 blue, not cheap.

And I have not seen any responses to sentinals. They are absolutely absurd in this game. Build anti air? They fly away super fast. And they airway really cheaper than reapers.

Getting to tech 3 basically means I’m standing their holding my -Yoink- while the opponent builds 400 marines. Tech 3 takes time and unless I want to build no troops or upgrade zero buildings, I’m just going to be waiting. Turrets are useless. Serious nerf needed for Marines and sentry.

No one actually builds an army or uses strategy in this game. Building 400 Marines or 100 strategy entries requires zero skill or thought. Not trying to scout, not building any anti anything, just mass produced cheap units and rush. Meanwhile you send in 20 marines, now have to spend my resources defending and worrying about my base. Meanwhile you expand, level up stuff, and have a great time. Just keep pumping out low cost Marines and laugh. The balance is way off in this game. Marines need to have less health and do less damage and cost more. Sentries should be built by air pad and have cost increase, health decreased, damage decreased. Anything built out of the main base should be borderline useless in a attack.

I agree grunts not having plasma grenades is a travesty

I’ve been playing Skirmishes first before I go online to develop a strategy that works for me, I suggest maybe get together with someone and try to develop counters to certain strategies.

You really should upgrade your generators and supply pads. Ultimately, that will make reaching other upgrades far faster. I upgrade my generators as fast as possible.

You’re biggest problem is your not upgrading your resources generator, you need to upgrade those first like asap. I play banished, before the 8 minute mark I am at Tech 3 with a full 80 pop army, typically have a minibase, main base, and expanded base. Thone 2 extra bases are up and with resources gen built on them by the 5 minutes mark. As soon as I have a 10 pop army I send them to start capping those power towers.

I choose to use my set up to power a grunt rush into scarab if the grunts don’t finish them off, but this pretty much goes for any army. Once you guys finally figure out how to get your resources flowing good early like mine do I will probably start having a much harder time winning, so far most are over at 15 minutes, record for me is 10:26. Reason it is so easy is because many build like you just described. You’re pretty much always going to lose building like that even if you get to late game do to your enemy having a huge resource advantage on you, you have to stop just giving them that advantage.

Try this next time you start a game. Build supplies, supplies, power, build a grunt/marine if you can, send troops to gather nearby resources, upgrade both supplies as soon as they complete, build on the nearest minibase, put power on the minibase, another supplies and power on your main base. While doing all this you should build to a 10 pop army and start taking towers, 1 is good and easy but if you can safely take a second do so. Upgrade the power and supply gens asap, power first as that is more important. You should then have a good flow started for resources, towards the 12 minute mark I often find myself swimming in power, literally the only thing keeping me from building a scarab is needing grunts to die to make room. I often have the resources to replace any unit as they die. Try this it should help you alot.

There is no strategy with this game, its just who attacks first win overpowered units wins.

20 snipers rekt 20 marines with proper micro. If you clump all the snipers up together, the marines Y will rekt you. You put snipers in the back of your army to take advantage of their range. Hellbringers and elite rangers though lose to marines because they’re underpowered. Snipers are not underpowered.

Aren’t flamers better against infantry than Snipers? Why would you build planes when marines hard counter air? So many questions in this thread…

Grunt mines are useless for the typical player. I have not yet tried to implement them in the battlefield for strategic use.

But by the 8 minute mark, I’ve been attacked by the 5 min mark. Getting to tech 3 requires a lot of power. I have been upgrading my generators and trying different things but by time you get to tech 3, upgrade a unit, produce unit, the enemy has 30 Marines at your doorstep.
