I've had enough! (Hex Mark's forum Rant#1)

No matter where I go in this forum, I have seen hate comments in every topic about Halo 4, ranging from the mantis, to the maps, to the loadouts. No matter what topic I find, there is always some Halo MLG purist or some CoD twerp complaining that Halo 4 is either ‘not Halo’, or ‘trying to be a fake CoD’ respectively.

What irks me about this is how often I see these, not just the groups in question.

To the CoD Twerps: I’ve played five CoD games, so I feel I have enough leeway to make this comment- the franchise has stagnated beyond belief! You people literally buy the same game simply because ‘it’s 1337’. Most of you guys don’t even play it as a CoD fan, you play it because ‘everyone else is doing it’. Your claims on realism are moot, as CoD’s only sense of realism is in how developers realized they don’t need to change a bloody thing!

To Halo MLG purists: I have played every Halo FPS game that has been released (So no, I do not count Halo Wars into this), and I appreciated most of the changes to each subsequent one. Yes, I loved armor abilities, yet I was disappointed that dual wield was removed. I enjoyed Forge in all it’s glory, but I didn’t like how the guns-down feature was banned on Xbox Live (Thank you Halo 4 for bringing that back for machinimators).

Yes, I love the new CTF, it makes the flag carrier actually stand a chance.

No, I don’t rely on the BR or the DMR in MLG rules, I rely on the pistol and I am happy with it.

The fact you complain how much Halo changes between each iteration makes you no better than the CoD twerps. You expect Halo to stagnate like CoD in that is is the same game with slightly different weapons. The guys at 343 are doing their best to prevent this stagnation happening to Halo. GET OVER IT!

I would have kept this to myself, but I felt that I needed to get it out of my head as I have seen way too many hate comments about the same deal.

Complaining about complaints does not stop complaints.

Threads like these do not help the situation… STAHP IT!

> Complaining about complaints does not stop complaints.

It was not intended to stop complaints, I just needed to vent.

> I just needed to vent.

Go for a run.

Wait this is rant #1? So there is going to be more of them?!

I was always told to convert anger into energy and do some hard work.

[Double post, removed]

So…get away from the forums. This is where people fell like they have a direct line to 343. They will share their opinion here, regardless of how well-constructed or completely ridiculous their complaint is.

Haters gonna hate.

But seriously, I agree on several points in your rant.

COD is almost like sport games, small changes in every iteration but people buy it anyway.

Halo MLG players and purists are slightly to very against changes in the Halo series. Things such as auto flag pickup and the BR/DMR argument point to this. Now I don’t think they are completely against change, they are against change that they feel will change Halo. Halo is known as an arena shooter and some of these changes are changing it into more of a class based shooter. The problem with that is that people don’t necessarily start on a relatively even playing field. The Mantis(I like) is going to receive some anger because the trailer shows it destroying a variety of vehicles and despite it being alluded to in other Halo material, it is different.

BTW, rants like this add fuel to a already strong fire. I know you probably wanted to let it out but there is already enough negativity on this board and its not helping us who are trying to keep calm. Like another person said, go for a run or maybe just stay away from the forums for a while.

This is what you should do, it works for me.

Ignore Trolls.
Ignore Negative Nancy’s.

That is all.

 1. I am not an “MLG” purist. Radar was in halo from day 1 and should be in every match. Hence why I show no love to MLG.

2)Many of these changes are foolish. I shouldnt need a PERK to pick up grenades.

 1. If you dont see how this game has completely emulated COD then you are blind, but ignorance is bliss i suppose.

> Complaining about complaints does not stop complaints.

mmmm complaints…taste good if you add a little spice, and a few human souls to add some wicked punch to a rather bland meal.

In all seriousness, people have as much as right to criticize (even if some of those criticisms are often rude and condescending) the game as much as the people who mindlessly praise it. This is coming from someone who likes Halo 4.

Exactly how I feel about threads like yours. How horrible would it be if I made a whole topic about it?

Ok, When I put #1- I put it there because I wanted to be sure incase I ever go nuts again and make another rant.

B) I am in a study hall in school at the time I posted that and this, so I can’t run.

C) I stick around on the forums as that’s the only place where this crap-college wi-fi doesn’t seem to snipe down.

I apologize if I sounded like an -Yoink-, but I think Halo is going to be exciting with the changes. Granted,I do see that it is emulating CoD to a degree, but then again- games borrow from one another almost all the time. Take Resident Evil 4, they practically established the modern Third-Person Shooter. Gears of War’s horde mode basically established the ‘survive wave after wave’ in modern gaming (To my knowledge, at least). Games try to catch up with one another provides competition with both who can do the tried and true methods the best and those who come up with something new.

My rant was more directed to the two extremes rather than anyone else.

and I admit, it seems hypocritical with the frequency of it. I didn’t mean I am against multiple threads, I meant that the amount of times I have seen it happen contributed to my desire to let it out.

Op. wat r u doin? op. Stahp.

Might I suggest a blog in the future?

Being frustrated is understandable but, as you can see, threads like this do little to help the problem and only exacerbate yet another problem forums seem to have - “useless” threads that complain about other complainers.

It’s a vicious cycle unfortunately.
